Contacts showing up in People and Other People in Air Drop

I can’t airdrop to my girlfriend’s phone all the time. She shows up under People on the airdrop screen and sometimes her phone shows up a second time under Other People. When her phone shows up under other people AD will work, but the contact file under People does not accept transfers. I’ve rebooted phones, updated them to iOS 14.0.1, toggled WiFi and Bluetooth, and changed AD settings to everyone; no improvement. Why is she listed twice on the airdrop screen and how do I fix it?

Hi halpz,

It sounds like AirDrop isn't working all the time between your device and your girlfriend's iPhone. In this scenario, we first recommend making sure all of the steps in the 'Before you begin' section from the resource below have been followed.

How to use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If they have, we would then like to isolate the behavior to one of the devices. Do you experience this same thing then trying to share content using AirDrop with any other people? Is she able to share content with other people without issue?
