Why does it take 3 days to unlock a sim lock?

So I have been waiting 2 days already for an unlock request submitted by T-Mobile to be processed by Apple. Does Apple do this process manually? It would seem the carriers should have an automated process they are connecting to for this. Is Apple really processing these manually causing it to take 3 days? If so at a couple million unlocks every year this should definitely be automated. Thanks to this slow process, and T-Mobile not being customer friendly, I have a phone stuck between two carriers for 3 days now. What can we do to fix this?

Untrue!

I just got off an hour on the phone again starting with T-Mobile and being transfered to and talking to an Apple Rep who attempted to complete the unlock, but failed. During his attempt to transfer me to his supervisor, I was disconnected from the call and no one ever called back despite taking my number in case we got disconnected. I know it was Apple because afterwards, I got the how did we do on the service call text.

So to be clear, T-Mobile punted to Apple and Apple disconnected and failed to reconnect or solve the problem. So I still have 2 really expensive Apple bricks!!!!

No, I read the email. I saw that link 2 days ago. I have spent 2 days talking to T-Mobile, they tell me a completely different story! They tell me they complete and online form that Apple Technical support processes. After 2 days of not getting it completed, they started transferring me to Apple Technical support.

Apple technical support is working with me to get this resolved, but evidently it isn't always an easy process for Apple phones. So far today, I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple, and 1.5 hours on the phone with T-Mobile.

Apple really needs to look into this. The old saying there is an App for That, well on Android there is an App for That. Unlocking my MIL phone from the same carrier took a whole 5 minutes. Makes you wonder how Apple, who is supposedly focused on customer experience, is being completely smacked down on this by Google!
