"No camera available" But I see it!

I recently inherited and restored an old 2008 era MacBook Pro with El Capitan. When I open FaceTime I get a message "No camera available." Photo Booth gives me, "There is no connected camera".

I ran both sudo Killall VDCAssistant and sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant in Terminal to no avail. I also reset SMC by removing the battery, pressing and holding the power button five seconds. No change.

Maybe this model doesn't have a built-in camera, but this certainly looks like one.

What should I try next?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13
