This used to work.
For a custom CD, I enter the CD name and the track info. Eject the disk, re-insert it, and the info was still there.
But now, with Mac Music App 1.0.6.10, it is not. Is this a case of a feature-ectomy or do others not have this experience?

Yep, using the current Apple Music for Mac. I've changed CD info the only way possible: by entering it into the appropriate fields in iTunes, er, Apple Music app for Mac.
An interesting experiment: I inserted a "mix" CD for which I had entered CD and track data in 2018, using a 2018 version of iTunes. All the info was there. Then I changed a couple of fields, ejected the CD, and inserted it again. The old info was still shown.

That only helps for a commercial CD. Those instructions say do not submit to the database if it's a custom ("mix") CD. All the other instructions I've followed. More than once.
