Apple Watch Series 1 cannot pair, Update failed

I got a new iPhone 11 so I had to pair my old Series 1 watch. I always get stuck at this error Unable to Check for Update. I have tried all the tips from Apple Support but still stuck here. Such a waste if I throw this away, it was working well before paired with my iPhone XS Max.


My phone’s iOS is updated. Tried resetting network settings, tried using 2.4ghz bandwidth, tried restarting phone, tried toggling airplane mode, tried cellular data. Still no avail..


Any tips?

Find a phone with ios12 on it if you can and pair your watch to it,it will ask

you to update the watch select yes,after it has updated unpair the watch

from the ios12 phone and then pair it with your ios13 or 14 phone.Now you can update to watchos6 and or above.

Alternatively contact apple store and see if they will update the watch

through the watch's data/diagnostic port.
