How do I get my Apple superdrive to be recognized on my MacBook Pro?

It will not show up on your desktop. However, if you plug it in, turn it on and put any media in it, the media (CD/DVD) icon should show up. Make sure you have the Finder Preferences set to show external devices/media in Finder.
