Deleting emails across all devices

I am having an issue with deleting emails across all of my Apple devices. Both my iPhone and iPad are iOS 14 and MacBook is OS Catalina. If I read or delete emails either on my iPhone or iPad, nothing is indicated as "read" or deleted from the other device, but my MacBook shows the mail as "read" or is deleted. If I read or delete the email from my MacBook, the email stays unread or undeleted from both the iPhone and iPad. This occurrence just happened recently. The email server is through Microsoft Exchange.

I would prefer that from whichever device I delete an an email, it deletes across all devices.

There is nothing on any of my devices which instructs me how to handle deleted emails, change settings, etc. Is this a new bug from iOS 14? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

iPhone XS, iOS 14

Good afternoon geffer,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you are trying to sync your email accounts across all Apple devices. This can be done with iCloud email (addresses end with @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com). For all other email accounts, you would need an IMAP account and would be accessing the folders on your email service provider's servers when using the Mail app. You can access the webmail for your email service provider using the browser on any of your devices.

The resources below will help you with this:

Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

Use Handoff to continue a task on your other devices

Create an email address for iCloud Mail - iCloud User Guide

How to delete emails on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Take care.
