Markup changes to photos not saving on iPhone or iPad

This works for me...thanks. Hope Apple corrects this because it doesn’t save the markups directly without cropping...on old photos I don’t have problems but for new saved photos it doesn’t work since the new update.

Just realized the same is happening to me, but only while trying to markup Screenshots. If I take a normal picture I can directly mark it up. But for screenshots, it doesn’t work even after restarting the phone.

i followed Rick_in_CT advice below and it works

Remove mark up in edit actions and then re add it. It will then save as normal. Found by accident :)

Wow, the latest update done today, at last all good. Everything working fine now. I can make my photos. At last.

It's now working for me with iPadOS 14.2.

I figured out a slightly cumbersome work around. 95% of my photo editing consists of putting titles or labels on photos for my own references.

The work around is:

First: Crop the photo, this can be an extremely slight crop.

Second: Mark-up the photo with your text.

Press done & it will save it correctly!

Haha no worries bud. I was confused too. I work in higher level IT, so my mind instantly thought something bigger was happening. Started rebooting and resetting things. I was about to restore from a backup! 😂

Me Too. Definitely a bug in iPadOS 14.1 and iOS 14.1. Going off previous bug’s Apple will be in no rush to address this, if at all. So many bugs creeping into Apple software these days. iOS/iPadOS 13 was a nightmare.

Same here! None of the steps you guys shared worked for me. If I hit “OK” it freezes and I can't do anything else except close the whole app out. Having the worse luck with Apple lately. First the new Mac Pro, now this. Really hesitant on getting the new iPhone now.

I'm having this issue, but only with a specific type of photo.

A little bit of background: I work in an office and we utilize our ipads to transfer information from one person to another, we utilize the markup tool just like we would if we were writing on a piece of paper.

Currently, I print the forms from our scheduling software as a PDF, and on my computer convert all pages to jpegs for each page to be utilized for different appointments throughout the day.

Then I email the jpegs to an email connected to the ipad (our office computers are PC, not MAC so I cant airdrop). From the email I save the images and then I can go through and highlight/markup what I need to so they are prepped for the next day.

These jpegs that I create on the computer do not have any issue saving the changes made with markup, but not all of our computers have adobe that is able to convert a PDF to a jpeg. My computer is actually the only one that does. So if another girl adds another appointment to the schedule, prior to the ipad update, she was able to print the page, scan it on our RICOH printer as a .jpeg/.tiff file and send it to the ipads that way. But since the update on the ipads, when she scans the file this way the ipad will go in and allow you to markup whatever you would like, but this error pops up when you go to save what you've marked up.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this issue? ...

Markup not working since iOS 14.1 - Error "Unable to save changes"

When I edit a picture and go to Markup and make a change, it won't save the edited picture... I get an error message: "Unable to save changes", the picture freezes and have to shut the Iphone down! 😖

Hi, I have the same problem with my new iPhone 12 pro . I couldn’t save any marking on a screenshot photo . Tried to update the latest version but It still doesn’t work .

anyone that knows when this will be fixed ?

Yes so do I, spent hours doing a nice edit on iPad Pro, just to be shown ‘Unable to save changes’.

is this the APO or IOS14:2 update? I’ve used this app on iPad for a couple of years now.
