So if I take a picture and edit it before it saves I can do markup and then save the photo.
if I edit a picture from my photos app on either the iPad or either iPhone and go to markup and make any changes it won’t save the picture.
I get and error message. Unable to Save Changes.
Suggestions?

Updating to iPadOS 14.2 fixed this bug.
(This should probably be the correct answer to the issue, ... or if you can't update: the workaround by cropping first)
Thanks Rick. Cropping does the trick. We just experienced it today.
The “cropping” worked great -still don’t understand why this happened all of a sudden 😡.
Is it a glitch in recent update?
This is clearly an Apple software bug. I found the same workaround. Slightly crop it and it will then work as designed.
