watchOS 7.0.3 update for Series 3 w/GPS + Call - Shared Lines

A quick heads up for those using Apple Watch Series 3 with GPS + Cellular.

The Apple watchOS 7.0.3 can potentially separate you iPhone and Apple Watch from using the Shared Lines feature. This means that you can start receiving Phone Calls on your Apple Watch, and they will not appear on your iPhone. This essentially turns the Apple Watch into an additional Cell Phone where Caller ID can still identify the separate number as your iPhone cell number, however you can receive calls and place calls through your Apple Watch while using your iPhone. This is not supposed to happen.

A couple of things you can do to resolve the issue:

  1. Reset Pairing
  2. Call AppleCare and report this issue. Apple can then check device information and repair the devices. Apple (not your cellular carrier) connects your Apple Watch to your iPhone. Your cellular provider, simply provides the telephone number used by your watch.

Update on potential resolution:

  1. Turn Off both devices
  2. Wait a few minutes
  3. Power on Both iPhone and Apple Watch

The power up cycle for the watch may take a while. However, this was resolution for the disconnect between my Apple Watch and iPhone.

Note: Apple was made aware of the issue through my cellular provider several hours ago, which may have contributed to the resolution of the issue.
