Hello Lindenbaum,
I've just got rid of it by:
Good luck!
Hi tcmeyers. That would be nice to try, but no HP Printer Software Update 5.1 is available. Software Update in System Preferences says "Your Mac is up to date -- macOS Cataline 10.15.7". The App Store says I have 4 updates, but these are for Keynote, Numbers, Pages, iMovie which I don't use regularly. Maybe an HP Printer Software Update 5.1 will appear in the near future. Fingers crossed.
I was having this problem too. Here is what worked for me:
Go to the HP message boards page here:
About 6 posts down there is a reply from IronBadger with two sets of instructions (shorter first, longer second)
The shorter set of directions did not fix the problem for me, but the longer one did (using HPEasyStart to uninstall HP software and then re-install it). I am no longer getting the popup, and I can print as needed
Here's what I did to solve this PER the HP website;
1) Open Finder
2) Click the "GO" menu and select "Go to Folder"
3) paste "~/Library/LaunchAgents" in (do NOT omit the tilde "~" or else you go to the WRONG place)
4) Find "com.hp.devicemonitor.plist" and REMOVE it
5) Reboot - boom the problem is gone.
I'd update your HP Drivers & Software ASAP to be sure you're all groovy and such...
I also have an HP LaserJet CP2025 and I'm experiencing exactly your problem" I DID manage to get rid of those nasty "malware" messages by uninstalling all HP software, deleting the printer, and then adding it again, after which the new HP Printer 5.1 software was also installed (driver version 19.13): When I now try to print (wither through Tme Capsule or via direct USB connection to my MacBook Pro, everything seems at first fine: the print window opens, I click print, the HP icon shows up in the dock ... but than it says that the printer is offline and I cannot print.
Do this;

Once I reboot - the message stopped displaying (click helpful if this works...)
I tried all these solutions to no avail. But then I did some more google search, and one source said it's an out-dated security certificate for an HP Printer. So I removed the old printer from my list (I hadn't had it for a few years anyway), and VOILA! That solved it.
It wasn't a virus. It wasn't adware. It was an old HP printer that I wasn't using that caused the problem.
Now to hope that some of the launch agent files I deleted weren't terribly important. ;)
After I download the HP Easy Start App and try to open it, I get "You can’t open the application “HP Easy Start.app” because it is not responding". I haven't received an HP Update from Mac yet either. Still stuck here, unfortunately.
Installing the most recent version of Amazon Music and just re-naming "HP Device Monitoring.framework" and then rebooting seemed to fix the prompt issue for me for the time being. Since a rename works, I am assuming that this is triggered and re-triggered because something is trying to load that framework and Apple is blocking it over and over again.
Obviously it may have broken some functionality in my print driver, but I don't need it at the moment. Might try and see if just installing a recent HP print driver for something might update it.
Thank you. This worked for me to get rid of the popup. I am a Brother Printer family, so printing was never an issue. However when I visit my brother-in-law in NYC (I'm in the SF Bay Area), I occasionally have to use his HP printer but I guess I'll have to deal with that when I see him again (which may not be until at least next April due to COVID). I did download the HP Smart app to reinstall anything that might be necessary to use an HP printer then.
Initially, I tried removing the offending file, but that prompted the HP Software 5.1 update (which looks like a 2018 update!) and the problem returned.
From the consensus, this appears to be an Apple/HP issue. Hopefully, it will be a non-issue with a *soon* to be issued software update.
I had the some problem. I contacted Apple Support and got rid off the message by deleting "HPDeviceMonitoring.framework" folder. At first, I was skeptical that my HP printer will not work. But, It's working fine as before, after deleting "HPDeviceMonitoring.framework" folder. Thanks to Apple Support.
I tried the above renaming the file to .old as not good to just go in deleting files. Rebooted and still get the pop up error. The above resolution not working for my computer. I am thinking that Apple or HP must come up with a resolution as I see nothing on here that is helping at this point.
Indeed, HP does not have print drivers that work for older printers. On an early 2016 MacBook, Catalina 10.15.7, I tried to print Friday on an HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless E709n. It failed to print, and the HP print manager had the message “One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation, HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software.” The printer worked on Thursday. I downloaded HP Easy Start, but it said HP did not have drivers for my printer. I restarted Easy Start and used it to uninstall HP software. I went to support.hp.com, found and downloaded Mac Printer Driver 5.1 which shows a release date of August 4, 2020. When I tried to open the install package, I received a message that the package was signed with a certificate that has expired. I had the installation continue. The printer still does not print and gives the same error message.
To be quite honest Apple and HP are premium brands, they have messed this us and they should put a fix in place. Apple used to be a byword for ‘it just works’, please just sort it don’t expect the users to delete half of perfectly safe software and then have to spend the afternoon recovering from Apples and HP’s mistakes.
I buy these products so that if I do have to work a weekend I don’t have to spend it wasting my time getting frustrated with tech that should be there to help me not hinder me!
Do you now get a notice that there is an upgrade ready for download? When I removed the specific file within that folder, there was a notice of an upgrade for HP Printing 5.1 and if you upgrade, the problem returns because it re-deposits that folder.
Sooooo, same thing is happening with my HP Printers. "HPDM.framework" will damage your computer. The printers aren't responding through iMac, laptop or mini print commands. I did re-install HP software. Nothing happened to solve the situation. Oddly enough I can print a document from the internet through the iPad or iPhone. Right now working on large project restoring photographs. Can't print proofs due to this problem. Try telling a customer this story. Hhmmm. Hope that Apple resolves this real soon. This situation is not helpful while working on deadlines. Anyway hope that Malwarebytes and Apple are working on this 24/7. Thanks for your response. It was helpful and I am patiently waiting for the resolution.
