Hello Lindenbaum,

I've just got rid of it by:

  1. Using Finder to go to "Library/LaunchAgents" and moving the most recently added and suspicious looking file to the bin.
  2. Did the same here "Library/LaunchDemons"
  3. And here "~Library/LaunchAgents"
  4. I also went to "Applications" and sorted by most recently added to see if anything suspicious has been added, and removed that.
  5. Then I restarted my Mac and it's fixed!

Good luck!

Thank you for this, it worked! Fingers crossed it doesn't pop up again.

I had been running Catalina 10.15.5, HP OfficeJet 8620 and this error just came up this morning when I logged on. I'd close it and it just kept popping up. I had to tuck it away at the bottom of my screen while I looked for a fix. After reading other fixes, I decided to update to Catalina v 10.15.7 but that didn't work. I followed your instructions step by step and the box disappeared during the uninstall process. I restarted the computer and it hasn't popped up yet.

The uninstall and setup does take a while, looking like it stalled at some points. It's like updating macOS when it appears to be hanging. Leave it alone and it will continue. I had this printer and my Canon Pro-10 icons on my toolbar that had disappeared when the computer restarted. I just added them again and both are working just fine.

Thanks again. :-)

I have two computers, both running the same version of iOS, though only one is experiencing HPDeviceMonitiring.framework symptoms as previously described. Both computers use the same printer. Both computer's folders were created September 15, 2017 at 1:58 am; however, the modified times are different. The non-working 27" iMac's framework folder was modified October 25, 2017 at 12:49 AM. The working MacBook Pro's file was modified a day and a half later, October 26, 2017 at 7:11 PM. Both folders are labeled as Version 5.37.1. Wonder if there is a difference in content......

Following some suggestions here I:

1) run the uninstall procedure for HP software as advised by Lindenbaum (N.B. trying to re-install the printer using the same method (HP Easy Install) does not work because the Photosmart c4500 series is not supported anymore);

3) removed the printers from the Printer list in the System Preference pane;

4) removed (actually compressed and stored for backup) the hp folder in Library/Framework/

5) rebooted;

6) re-installed the printer from the System Preference pane; this forced my Mac to download the drivers and software from Apple.

Now the warnings have disappeared and I can print. However if I try to use the scanner I still get a warning message and I cannot proceed. So it is a bug that has to be fixed by HP/Apple.

This just popped up for me today. I just updated to the latest version of Catalina, searched for HPDeviceMonitoring.framework in the finder, deleted it from my computer and I no longer receive the message and printing still works as usual. I'm no IT person by any stretch and I can't tell you if it will appear again but so far so good. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Okay so I tried the solution by @Rolaa but I could not find any suspicious files in any of the locations they suggested.

My computer kept giving me the location of where the error was coming from "HPDeviceMonitoring.framework." I discovered it is in the same place as "HPDM.framework" and several other folders that will all give you the same error.

I decided to delete all of these folders (I think there were like 7 or 8 of them). **If you try to print at this point it will tell you that the driver is malfunctioning.

Instead, download "HP Easy Start" from the HP website and then click through and when it asks you what you want to install. ONLY install the first option, NOT HP scan. Once this downloads and installs, you should be able to print normally without any error.

Hope this works for you too!

There is a new software update available now for Catalina. Try installing this update. Then, update your HP drivers by first uninstalling and then re-installing the drivers using the HP_Easy_Start app. This process worked for me. Uninstalling the drivers gets rid of the pop-up windows. After re-installing, everything worked correctly with the printer. Good luck!

I confirm the procedure posted by tcmeyers worked on two different Macs running Catalina 10.15.7, both connected via WiFi to HP 8600 Plus. Both started getting the recurring error "HPDeviceMonitoring.framework will damage your computer". One of them also got the error "HPDM.framework will damage your computer".

I first tried just updating using hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4. That did not fix it. Then I used tcmeyers procedure which worked on both machines.

“HPDeviceMonitoring.framework” will damage your computer.
