i have got the iPad Air 4 (2020) with iPadOS 14.1 installed. Also i am using a smart cover.
But the when I open/close the cover the screen does not unlock/lock.
Because of this I was searching the option to automatic lock and unlock the screen while using the smart cover. Unfortunatly i cannot find it.
Usually it was located in the option menu for screen and brightness.
Does anyone have a similar problem or is able to help me?
Tried no fewer than 5 cases for the iPad Air 4, all claiming auto sleep/ wake. None worked as advertised. Finally got the Zugu case yesterday. Auto sleep / wake Works beautifully !
I can confirm that an OEM Apple SmartCover worked fine. I returned the 3rd party case I had purchased and the vendor offered to send me a new one, which now works due to a design change/fix. The process was frustrating, however, and makes me wonder what the motivation was for Apple to make this small change.
I was able to solve my issue on this in regards to 3rd party cover.
I figured out the problem. Apple has put a switch on the bottom right hand corner about an inch from the corner if you put a piece of magnetic tape there on the case it will then work with the magnet on the top. I guess this is Apple‘s way of making you buy their case.
I am having the issue as well. Adding a screenshot of where the option is enabled. I’m using a 3rd party smart cover but it works fine with my wife’s 2018 11” iPad Pro. Seems like either a bug or defective hardware. I have an appointment this afternoon at the local Apple store.
Hi, just curious if you were able to fix the problem? I just posted regarding sleep wake function not working on iPad Air 4 cover, even if the lock/unlock was on.
