iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

I upgraded from the iPhone XR to the Iphone 12 Pro and had the exact same problem. Noticed it immediately after turning the new phone. I tried what people here are suggesting as far as messing with true tone setting and color filters. Those definitely didn't fix the yellow tint problem that everyone is describing.

I contacted Apple support and returned the phone to get a new replacement. It took them almost a full month to ship me the new phone. I could not book an appointment with the closest apple store to me because of covid restrictions, they have closed.

I just turned on the new replacement iphone 12 Pro, and guess what? Still yellow tint. . . . Seems like Apple has really botched this product launch. Will likely return it for a full refund and wait until next year to upgrade I guess.

Thank you for responding.

I am the one who initially started this thread because I was being told by one of the Apple stores that there was no reported problems with the background coloring of the new iPhone 12 Pro.

I said I know that I am not crazy and not wasting my personal time reaching out to Apple or returning to the stores so I started this thread to see if anyone else was having the same problem and wouldn’t you have guessed it, I got a flood of responses of people experiencing the same issue.

it is definitely frustrating as I am not only experiencing the issues with the tent but viewing emails and sometimes Safari adjusting things two of you that I am not able to view.

I hope that you are able to resolve your issue. If they do not come out with an update to resolve this I will be returning my phone for a full refund. I have already been looking at other phones.

Here is the feedback I wrote:

“I have worked my way through 3 iPhone12 pros now and they have all been unacceptable in terms of display colors and contrast. Displays on all samples has a yellow/green tint with low contrast rather than the neutral white and vibrant colors we know from other iPhones in the household. As a photographer I need a display that is neutral or very close to neutral when editing pictures on the fly on the phone. They need to be comparable to my color calibrated Cinema Display at my desk workspace. It is totally unacceptable for me and I plan now to return the phone and go back on the deal to get an older phone with a reliable screen. This is bad news for me as I purchased the iPhone12pro for reasons of making photo editing easier. This is not possible with a display that isn’t color neutral.”

Thank you so much for that link! I submitted my feedback and I suggest everybody else do that as well. If we all do this maybe Apple will then admit there is an issue and start a repair program for us. I would also suggest going to your local news. The more newscasters that share the story the more Apple cannot deny it or hide the issue!

Thanks, everyone for sharing the links and for continuing this conversation.

I understood that if you have Apple care, they will be able and replace the phone.

I am considering getting an Apple care for my iPhone 12 Pro and if the issue gets fixed, I will still be covered and get a new phone. If not, I will need to just go and replace this phone with an 11 series, I have some little time left, from the time I made the purchase this December.

Or just get the coverage and wait...The only thing is that we don't know how long this will take and when these 12 phone series will get the screens fixed.

Yup! I am just deciding if I should just replace my iPhone 12 Pro by the beginning of January with an 11 series.

If I will wait longer than the date above, and not have the Apple coverage, I will not be able to get a refund for the phone.

So it really comes down to these options:

1) returning the iPhone 12 Pro and get an 11, while still filing the claim for the fix

2) keeping the iPhone 12 Pro and get coverage for it, while still filing the claim for the fix

In both cases, it might take time to get a clear resolution from Apple. In case 1) I might need to "rebuy" the iPhone 12 Pro once it gets fixed, unless Apple is recognizing the issue and pays for the difference in getting back to the latest model.

jenney5309 did you already returned your iPhone and got a previous version? Just wanted to learn how everyone else dealt with this matter! Thank you!

I did not return mine Verizon was closed due to Covid so I could not return mine. I had kept my 11 promax when I upgraded this for my work phone. Although I do have AppleCare plus on both devices I don’t wanna have to use that for something that Apple knowingly will not do anything about. It is a defect in workmanship and materials and that is covered Under their limited warranty so all of these devices should be covered under the limited warranty and should be fixed for free. Whether Apple admits it or not. They need to start a repair program like they used to have for other devices such as the iPhone 7 with no cellular or so searching for service or the iPhone 6s with the battery issues or the iPhone 8 with the logic board issues there is a problem with the iPhone 12 and Apple needs to admit it and fix it.

I could not agree with you more.

The stores are acting as if they are not aware of that there is an issue but how they can continue to do so is beyond me because by the looks of the initial thread I posted, there has been a substantial amount of people experiencing the same issue that I am.

it is very frustrating.

Dec 29, 2020 11:32 AM in response to jenney5309

The devices are covered under the manufactures warranty as it is clearly a defect in product.

I am sure they are being hammered with complaints on this issue but what they intend to do about it is beyond me.

my phone is dim and cannot be brightened.

certain emails depending on whether there is a picture attached when I open them shifts the entire page which causes me not to be able to even read the email. I have to hit reply in order to see it.

also in Safari while looking at certain webpages it is constantly switching modes and background colors for some reason.

I’m experiencing the same. I have upgraded from iPhone 7 to iPhone 12 mini. I’m noticing a difference particularly with the colour red from my 7-12. It is looking more orange on the 12 compared to a true to life colour on the 7 and has been driving me mad. Been on the phone to apple about it no help. From reading peoples posts I’m being lead to believe it’s either hardware / or a software issue.

from doing research in terms of displays starting to think iPhone 7 had an lcd display and uses backlight to brighten the display iPhone 12 mini and other 12s is oled which is supposed to be kinder to our eyes but does saturate colour🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I much prefer the images on my 7 they ‘pop’ more

iPhone 12 mini is a great disappointment compared to my older iPhone and iPad.

The colours on photographs are yellow, murky and dark. And they don’t look as clear. Snow looks yellow. Icing on the Xmas cake looks yellow. Even the screen for all texts and emails is a cream colour instead of crisp white. Despite the larger text size this dingy screen makes everything more difficult to read. It’s going back!
