Hi guys.
We have 2 iPhones - 12 and 12 Pro.
Here is what I figured out...
When the True Tone setting is on, the amount of yellowish tint is purposely not consistent. It depends on the ambient amount of light. It’s more pronounced in darker conditions and less or nonexistent when it’s bright.
Take your phone outside in the daylight and try to toggle the True Tone switch - you won’t see any difference in the screen color whatsoever.
Very smart and useful indeed!!
There are 3 ways to go around it if you really want to...
1.Turn the True Tone switch off.
You’ll be doing a disservice to your own eyes in dark rooms, because of the amount of blue light hitting your eyes - could be useful but questionably smart.
2. Go to Accessibility - Display & Text size - Color Filters. Turn it on and adjust the Color Tint - Intensity all the way down and Hue is somewhere in the middle or to your liking.
Useful but possibly not very smart, because quite often the screen is too blue. I used it for a few days and then rejected it.
3. Turn off True Tone, turn off Auto-Brightness (Accessibility - Display & Text Size), crank the brightness all the way up and be happy.
Possibly useful but not very smart at all!
By the way, when Auto-Brightness is on, the amount of full brightness varies depending on the ambient light. Smart!
Apple should educate their Techs how to explicitly explain this to their customers.
Hope this helps.
