iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

i understand.

I’m looking for another phone.

no one could answer a simple question.

How is it that phones & IPods released prior have a better display?

The phone is dull, dim, unable to be brightened at all. In order for the background to lighten even slightly it means leaving all settings as if it were a new phone NO PERSONAL SETTINGS.

This is horrible @Apple #Apple apple.com

My sentiments exactly.

That was the entire point I have been trying to make the whole time.

If I alter any of the settings in any way it only makes the screen coloring worse.

below is the comparison of my iPod next to my iPhone 12Pro.

My XR was extremely brighter & more vibrant.

I also make sure that both did not have any setting altered.

try this for now while waiting for the software update if there’s any...

turn true tone off. Then

Setting > Accessibility > Display and text size > Color Filters. Then adjust color tint

Intensity 0%

Hue 70 - 75%

After adjusting, your screen would kinda have a blue tint. So to achieve perfect whites, go to

Setting > display and brightness > enable night shift

Then adjust color temperature to less warm (same as the attached picture. Do not adjust all the way)

Works for me since i was able to match the display of my iphone xs.

hope this helps.

Admittedly I couldn't decide straight away with the (begrudgingly) suggested option by the Genius support official at the Apple retail store, of having the screen changed/replaced. The genius support staff suggested it might not resolve the issue and I also felt that it might not address the issue if the replacement screen also possessed the same yellowish/urine tinted display. Thus it would only result in a merry-go-round nightmare and besides why should one have to hand the iPhone in to have it heated to melt glue-sealant, clean glue/sealant, then change the display and then re-apply glue/sealant in order to meet water resistance rating; only to find display has the same related issue (as with so many other owners) when instead Apple could very easily cause you no further anguish and stress already suffered, by quite simply replacing it with a new handset that is known by Apple to be free and devoid of the issue. After all the issue was present from day 1 out of the box - it’s the very least Apple could do.

What is now a problem is the process to change the phone. Apple wants to receive this phone and then they will send me another. In 2/3 weeks...

this is absolutely ridiculous.

im a good Apple customer, from computers, iPads to watches to phones to AirPods for me and my family. Never had a problem, now that I do, I get to know an arrogant and inflexible company.

not happy at all.

I would suggest booking a sales appointment at the store if you’re able to go in person. If you go the servicing appointment route it takes longer to get the problem resolved.

I was speaking to tech support then a customer service agent on the phone, they recommended returning to the phone at the store for a full refund since it was still within the return period. In the meantime, I could order the phone again for pick up the same day I was returning. That way I won’t have a period where I’m without a phone as I went ahead and sold my old iPhone X already.

I did something similar to what Yolande mentioned ^.

Been feeling like my 12pro display isn’t as bright/vibrant compared to my iPhone X but can’t quite pinpoint the problem until I first heard about the yellow tint from everythingapplepro’s YouTube review.

So I headed down to the apple store physically to compare my 12pro with their display models and although the displays were also “warmer”, the one I possessed was definitely “jaundiced”. Asked the Apple staff about it and he concurs with my observation, so he advised me to give the returns/replacement people a call as it’ll be the best course of action since they don’t have 12pro in stock in most Apple store to replace immediately at once.

so fast forward to the (returns) call.. everything was super chill and easy - it was probably the easiest customer service call in my life (makes me wonder if apple is actually already aware of this problem). The returns ppl gave me the option of replacement by pushing my order into the next available shipment. As a result, I get to continue using this ‘jaundiced’ phone until the stock replenishment at the Apple store where I can just head in to replace this current 12pro.

Would probably also advise anyone else annoyed by their screen to do the same as it’s quite hassle free and you can just keep working the phone you own!

This has been an issue noticed by many users, including me. See the thread below.

I’ve personally been to 2 different Apple stores and compared at least 5 12 Pro models to mine and ALL had the yellow tint issue, that is why I decided not to waste my time with returns and replacements. My 12 Pro was actually better than all display models I saw (achieved higher max brightness) but in terms of the yellow tint, all were the same or worse than mine.

Either this is an intentional shift in calibration by Apple or there is a significant issue with the initial batch of the 12 Pro.

It is especially noticeable when switching between my Apple devices as both my iPad Pro and MacBook Pro have the same cool blue hue display that I’ve also had in all my prior iPhones.
