iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

So I’ve got my replacement for quite some time now.. it’s similar/better than the displays they have in store but it’s still noticeable to me.

The 14days return policy for Apple AU is pretty decent so I’ve decided (and already initiated) to return the phone for a full refund this time.

Will have to wait for the arrival of my 12 Pro Max to determine if the Samsung-made screen on that model is better/ equally “bad”

there are rumors that early produced apple phones have lower production standards. I dont know if that is accurate , and really dont care about rumors but just facts. and it seems that is actually a mistake to run and buy first any device or car, and in general product that they are just out for sale. In my case my iphone 12 pro feels nice but looks rubbish , cant realy tolerate that yellow tint and the money i have spend to get it. at the end there is no much difference in everyday use comapring to my iphone x , and not an actual help during these MASK. days , without any fingerprint sensor .

they show No mercy , so i wont too , i will go for sure for a refund. total dissapointment.

Yes, returning it for a refund is the way to go. That is exactly what I did.

I overlooked a "Pro" device at $1k USD that still has a 60Hz screen, that still has the same big notch from 2017, that has literally zero improvements to Face ID in the middle of a global pandemic, and no Touch ID to supplement Face ID.

I don't upgrade an iPhone to downgrade on the display. Apple can take it back and try to sell to unsuspecting customers. Never again will I buy an Apple product at launch, I will wait 3-4 months.

I also had the same issue with my iPhone 12 Pro. Further, the screen of my first iPhone 12 Pro was faulty and Apple gave me a new one as a replacement. The new one also had a yellow tint compared to my 3-years old iPhone X.

So I have so far experience from 2 completely new iPhone 12 Pro's and both had non-vibrant, non-crispy screens with a very noticeable yellow tint compared to my 3-years old iPhone X. Further, my wife also purchased a new iPhone 12 Pro that also had this issue compared to her 3-years old iPhone X.

We also went to the local Apple store and compared our old iPhones to their on-display iPhone 12 Pro models, and the screen quality varied a lot, but overall, all 4 of their display models also had yellow tint's and non-vibrant screens compared to our old iPhones.

We ended up returning both our iPhone 12 Pros. I am hoping that this is a problem with their initial batch of OLED screens and as they produce more their manufacturing process will improve. We are very disappointed that our 3-year old iPhone X looks much better than the new iPhone 12 Pro...

I was on the phone with Verizon Support and the rep was able to help me fix this issue!

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > scroll all the way to the bottom and disable "Auto Brightness"

Go to Control Center and adjust the brightness from low to high and it should go to peak brightness and eliminate the yellow hue.

*True Tone should also be disabled

I had an iPhone X I was transferring data from so I noticed the yellow screen issue immediately and how awful it looked compared to my old phone. This fixed it.

I will say this - no one should have to go through these steps to make their display look the way it should. It should come this way straight out the box without having to sacrifice the "Auto Brightness" feature. Apple needs to fix this.

nobody can answer for sure if its a defection or just a matter of calibration which is not an option in users hand to do. just to adjust color tint or hue or whatever. Even the apple support has now , at this time , almost zero experience in that specific issue of 12 pro , and if all the production is like that , there is no comparison between a defected screen and normal one ( if thats a hardware issue)

the point is that most people will not understand if the screen is bad or not even if it is compared right next to another (non 12 pro) screen , so no harm ,.

Maybe this is not a hardware issue at all , it could be a a way of reducing power consumption so , as the first tests and reviews run and have an impact on sales , to rate it better , and then after some months to adjust the dipslay's color profiles and etc through software update. We will see....

I couldn't stand it so .. i just returned it back ... and i will wait for the 12 pro max or mini

I just got my 12 Pro max and I also experiencing the same concern with the "yellowish" color display.

But I just followed other comments by changing the color filter and adjusting the hue to 80% and it works for me.

Go to settings > Accessibility > Display & Text size > Turn on Color Filters > select Color tint.

Though, I hope apple fix this and made some update on since we pay a ton of money.

I tried this light trick on my 12 pro Max and it worked but if I manually change the brightness it goes back to yellow. When fixed and compared to my XS Max my XS Max now looks a little tinted like True Tone is stronger but they are set exactly the same. Also noticed on the 12 pro Max the yellow is more obvious when looking at a angle. I’m wondering if I will get used to it? Going to mess with it a few days.
