iPhone 12 Pro Lock Sound Issue

I just got my iPhone 12 Pro and found a very annoying issue with the lock sound and sometimes the keyboard typing sound.

The lock sound goes weird when it has been idle for a few seconds. If I start playing something, the lock sound of iPhone 12 Pro will stay normal for another few seconds.

Please see the video I took:

It happens after rebooting the device and happens all the time for me.

Is it only me or something wrong with the system?

Thanks

Hi,

Since this seems to be related to software issue, I have upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to iOS 14.2 beta. And now the issue is gone. Looks like iOS dev team noticed and fixed this issue in the next update.

I would recommend everyone has this issue wait a bit for the next system update.

All I can say is that I've only experienced the "clack" lock sound when I first used an official Apple magsafe leather case.

I decided to take the case off my iPhone 12, did a soft reset to return the lock sound to normal, then used the phone for a couple of days to see if it returned on its own and thankfully it didn't.

For me, something is happening when the phone senses that a magsafe accessory has attached itself to the phone (whilst turned on).

Since going through the procedure I mentioned above, it's not returned. My guess would be that if you attached and detached a magsafe accessory, such as a wallet or charger then it is highly likely the "clack" sound will return. Unfortunately, I don't have either so I'm unable to give a definite answer to that one.

I have informed the geniuses at Apple Store twice and Apple Support once. They all told me that it's never been reported before and they will write it down then report to Apple engineers.

Now it looks like the engineers don't want to fix this soon. Maybe they have bigger problems to deal with. 🤷‍♂️

This has nothing to do with the magsafe as i am using it without the magsafe case or charger. The sounds include lock sounds and keyboard clicks. They are reducing which has been the issue for me since i opened the box and not because i had magsafe. I am now wondering whether i should go back to my iphone 11 because atleast it is not annoying me when i lock or type it.

Most people commenting really aren't that bothered however, like me, probably feel that if you pay good money for something, no matter what it is, it should work properly and if it doesn't then the manufacturer should know about it incase they can let everyone in on a "fix", especially when Apple set themselves up at every launch with their infamous phrase "The best iPhone EVER!" LOL perhaps some caveats on that...

The best iPhone ever with a slightly more yellow screen and sounds that may go a little haywire.

- it is but a minor irritation, a soft reset has worked for me, only bought it because I'm fed up of not being able to answer phone calls on my iPhone X - screen freeze!

I think that's a good approach, it's a mild irritation, but overall the phone is fantastic!

I see it this way: nothing in life is ever perfect, even an Apple iPhone. If it was individually handmade then I would expect perfection. The reality is, that're mass produced in their millions, albeit to tight parameters and quality controls, but (excuse the pun) you're bound to get the occasional "bad apple" in the orchard!

If i am not able to give any help is because all of the people have already given here and there is nothing new for me to add. On the other hand you sir are stating things that most of them are not able to do. So unless you have something that actually helps everyone i would suggest you keep your comments to yourself. And please find a dictionary if you dont understand the meaning of a discussion.

Noticed this issue as soon as I got my iPhone 12, keyboard & lock sounds volume variation and the magsafe animation that make the lock sound go crazy (loud click). Plug in a magsafe accessory like the charger without power that will not trigger the magsafe animation and your lock sound will stay normal so it's related to the software. As for the system volume variation I get the same issue with the iPad Air 4. Apple dev team should read their own boards to fix things...

and now, back to our program .......

does anyone else have sound problems besides the keyboard and lock screen? If so what other sound issues are they affecting?

As I have said before, it is affecting my lock screen and keyboard sounds however, it is also affecting my iPhone 12’s text messaging notification and mail notification sounds.

as I stated before, I have never used Mag safe but have the same issues as those that do use mag safe.

I find that if I go into the settings and change the sounds of notifications that the problem will go away for a brief time, but returns within an hour or so of using my phone.

Does anybody else have these issues?

I perfectly understand the meaning of discussion.

I question whether you understand the meaning of providing help to others and the sharing of advice?

You are a rude individual who has nothing to offer but negativity and angst. Whatever help has been shared, you have quickly dismissed it. You have not thanked anyone who has offered assistance.

My issue was isolated to the Lock Screen sound. The issue started when I removed and put back my leather MagSafe case. Note: When I initially put the case on, my iPhone was off and I had no issues.

Toggling the setting didn't address the problem.

Powering off and back on addressed the problem.

I have not removed the case since then. And I haven't experienced the issue again.
