Headphone audio levels notification warning

I listen to music/spotify everyday and I just keep getting a notification that my volume is too loud.

Like 30min in on full volume and then I just get a warning about headphone audio levels, that my music/audio is playing too loud. And immediately the volume turns itself down to a half. Also the notification is just up there until I swipe it back up.

Is there any way to disable this? I looked into health app settings, iphone settings, searched for this on the internet but there is no one having this issue as me I guess?

It’s very unpleasant when for example I’m in the gym and I’m listening to music on my airpods. and then my music gets quiet so I need to drop the equipment to turn the volume back up.

Thanks in advance, Thomas

Good morning, xsull,

We understand that you need to stop your device from automatically warning you about the volume and adjusting your audio levels.

To change this setting, go to Settings > Sound & Haptics. Select Reduce Loud Sounds and then turn that feature off. This should prevent both the warning and the automatic adjustment. This article has more info:

I wrote my complaint about this issue when the forum was like 3 pages. To this day I get over 2-3 emails PER DAY from new people writing and complaining about this stupid feature... Apple are you serious? I know this is probably some stupid EU regulation but it is unacceptable for us to not be able to even have a loophole to get out of this. Obviously users are outraged and this has to be fixed it’s been going on for months now and I know it’s just a **** software update so just get to it already we have had enough of this

I have the new iPhone 12 pro max and when it pairs up to my car stereo after about 30 minutes sounds and haptics wants to turn my music down. It's not a bad feature if someone needs it. But if I'm paying all of this money for a new iPhone it should be my choice how loud and how long I want to listen to my music. If this can not be fixed I will get rid of my apple products and never buy another.

Because of this bad function I cannot listen to music from the phone connected via the jack cable to the stereo system, or via bluetooth speakers: / I request the possibility to mark whether headphones are connected or speakers are connected. It should be possible to turn off this crap at all. I Use Iphone SE in Poland. In my country, I have not heard of any legislation on this subject. Otherwise, all phone makers would have to implement it, and only apple did.

Yep I'm fed up with this "feature" in fact I complained back las October to support, I think it is unacceptable for this to be mandatory if you are in any country let alone the UK and regardless of any "law" passed, we should have autonomy and ultimate sovreignty over our bodies and our listening experience, I know an update is coming but sadly it doesn't look as though it will be enough. Every person has the right to decide just how loud they wish to listen to anything, it isn't up to Apple, the WHO or our law makers to decide. I moved from Android late last year for the first time ever now I regret it, which is a shame because the watch is fantastic but music and the volume restriction placed upon me is a deal breaker, I will be looking to not buy Apple in the future, I will probably return to Samsung, as they never treated me like I was a child the way Apple is. Samsung does have a noise reduction feature but if it does lower the volume it is normally at the begining when you start listening and it deosn't try to repeat the action again for quite some time (often a week later) there are better ways to implement the "law" and these should be looked at imeadiately. Perhaps a waiver/one time consent should be considered, if not I'm offski.

I got a five year old android, yes its samsung, but i am about to say **** apple and go to it, never again will i buy apple if they can’t fix this issue, that android maybe outdated but I guarantee you it will do a better job than apple, the newer samsungs and google, im not even joking! And plus it has a 16 megapixel camera, so by far its looking temting to just go to it and get my 1300 dollars back **** it!

I’ve only just become a VICTIM of this Nanny State feature implemented by Apple to protect my ears. I have a LIVALL bike helmet with built in Bluetooth speakers and I listen to spoken word podcasts whilst riding, which obviously have to be at almost full volume to be able to hear them due to the distance between ear and speaker / traffic noise. My phone therefore thinks I’m listening to music at 90 percent volume and decides to cut my volume in half meaning the ride becomes virtually silent. I nearly crashed my bike yesterday trying to readjust the volume so your so called ‘safety feature’ nearly killed me.

FIX THIS RIDICULOUS BIG BROTHER NONSENSE. It’s our choice. Or there will be many people cancelling Apple Music and switching to Android phones.

Even if it gets to the point of all makes and models doing this, everyone will just turn it straight back up to full volume. It still does it to me even if I am at 75% volume it turns it down so in my anger and frustration I then turn it back up but to 100% just to show it who’s boss. However it is really dangerous when driving for example and I wonder when the litigations will begin due to Apple related car crashes. Also, this is discrimination against those with partial hearing to begin with.

Absolute joke, have used Apple products for over 15 years but since my Airpods keep turning the volume down whilst working out at the gym, seriously considering changing to another product like Samsung. Apart from the Airpods being temperamental anyway where they switch off or only work in one ear, this is the worst experience ever. Can anyone recommend another product as this is driving me mad. Looking at the forum it's apple being clever but at the end of the day, I'm sure it's going to cost them money when people start changing to other manufacturers as so stressful.
