Bluetooth affects volume

Is any one experiencing a reduced volume setting on the iPhone when you connect to a bluetooth vehicle. My phone volume gets set at half or below half when I connect to a GMC vehicle or a Harley motorcycle. Even though you can turn up the volume on the vehicle, the phone volume does not go up. You can see this effect when you first connect and pull down the control center to see the volume setting. I have tried changing the "change by buttons" setting to off and to on, but seems to have no effect on this happening. I also lose the haptics when connected to these vehicles, as in no keyboard clicks or lock sounds. It is frustrating to receive a phone call and be unable to hear the caller because the phone volume is set so low. If you are driving it is not possible to turn the volume up on the phone at that point. What is perhaps even worse is that once unconnected to the vehicle, the volume remains low including the ringer volume, so I am missing calls. Anyone know of a solution that I can try?

My problem is not with connecting to the vehicles. The problem is my volume can be up to max on the iPhone ( iOS 13.7 ) and upon entering and driving the car, the phone volume will decrease on its own. It gets so low that you cannot hear the calling party well, even with the volume in the vehicle turned all the way up. Upon leaving the car, the volume remains at the low volume it dropped to upon attaching to the vehicle using bluetooth. So either the car is forcing a drop in volume or the iPhone is forcing a drop in volume. Since this happens on multiple vehicles, my money is on the iPhone changing the setting upon going to the bluetooth connection. This can be easily replicated and Apple should look closely at their software to see why it would allow the physical volume on the phone to change without physical action by the user.
