iPhone 12 pro won’t wirelessly charge

Picked up new phone. It will not charge on my Qi wireless charger. My family members’ iPhone X and 11 charge fine. Mine initially shows the green battery, then it disconnects from charging and the charger flashes a blue LED, signifying it is no longer connected. This despite using different charger blocks.

Sorry, but your assertion it's not the charger because it works with previous phones is the wrong analogy for iPhone 12. The charging coil in iPhone 12 is not in the same spot as it was in previous phones to accommodate MagSafe. That doesn't mean iPhone 12 isn't compatible with Qi chargers. It actually is. But it likely means your current chargers may not position the charging coils properly with the relocated spot on iPhone 12.

We had charging issues when we first got iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max. After much research, I came to the conclusion my older chargers weren't going to work with iPhone 12. So I bought new chargers and haven't had any issues since. Our new chargers are dual coil and were repositioned to better align with iPhone 12. And this is important, many older chargers don't have higher watt QC 3.0 charging bricks. So my new chargers have 18W QC3.0 bricks. Bam, no issues charging wireless since and it's been over 2 months now.

Your logic should make sense, but in my case, with my older chargers, rebooting worked until it didn't. Once the chargers were all replaced with newer chargers with dual charging plates and higher watt QC3.0 chargers, I've not had to reboot once now in over 3 weeks.

Based on my recommendation, others have replaced their older chargers with the one I recommended and they too have been having no issues.

You can stick with your logic (which I admit should make sense, but just didn't long term) or get a new charger.

But why should I replace six (3 stand up and 3 discs) relatively new (June, 2020) popular highly rated QI certified charges at just under $30 each just because I bought a new phone? That is insane and a waste of money when all that needs to happen is for Apple to rectify a fault that obviously exists at least with the 12 Mini. These chargers are QI certified and work just fine with our two SE-2020 and XS phones. Apple advertises the 12 Mini to work with any Qi certified charger, not just the mag-safe devices, so now buying more new chargers is just an absurd thing to do.

It will not charge wirelessly as Apple has changed charge method implanting magnets in a ring on back of phone . Will only charge with lightening cord or an Apple MagSafe charger. If we knew we would certainly avoid Apple. I am positive it is not a software issue. Instead a hardware issue. Could it be another rip off forcing users to buy MagSafe chargers??? As if I really don’t know!!!!!!

No. I'm successfully charging iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max with wireless chargers, which have nothing to do with MagSafe.

Maybe not. I think the failure to wirelessy charge is a combination of software and hardware. I observed two things over the past two days with my 12 Mini after updating to 14.3. First, although a problem with wireless charging still exists, I perceive the ios update improved that somewhat. Second, I discovered, on the three stand up wireless charges I had since June, and with a new one of a different design just received, my 12 Mini will not reliably charge when sitting, as intended, on the bottom shelf. However, if I raise the phone above the bottom shelf by 1/4", it charges perfectly 100% of the time.

So, I am purely, guessing, but I hypothesize there are two things going on. First, I think it is reasonable the phone does a quality check of the inductive coupling before it allows wireless charging to start. Apple might have lowered the required quality threshold a bit and that might explain why charging appears to be somewhat less problematic after the 14.3 update. Second, the success associated with placing a 1/4" shim under the phone in order to make charging 100% reliable, might be related to the exceptionally small size of the 12 Mini where its charging coil sits lower than required for good inductive coupling. Anyway, just really reaching here but these guesses do offer an explanation for what I observed.

Please look for my posts above. Assuming you have a standup charger, simply place a 1/4"-3/8" or so spacer on the bottom shelf so the Mini sits about 1/4" higher. I have some mini-levels that are 3/8" square and 1 1/8" long (10x10x29 mm) that work perfectly. This fixed the problem on all four stand up chargers we have. A six piece set is available for $6 at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VTQG17V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I used a small piece of double sided tape to hold each one in place. All our bigger chargers, including two iPhone SE-2020 wirelessly charged without an issue but also work with the spacer. As I said above, it appears to me the extra small size of the Mini results in its charging coil probably lower than optimum and this results in poor magnetic coupling with the charger.

The charging is a Apple issue

I have not been successful at all using the Apple wireless charger I try several other brands as well. Presently I use an old ANKER charger and with I have to move the phone around the pad to position it just right so that I can charge but at least is charges . It’s frustrating

but I think the problem is with the hardware placement and size on the actual phone itself

apple needs to recall and fix the problem

and I hope they do this before the next phone comes out. I cannot believe that they are just ignoring this problem altogether

My husband and I both just got new iPhone 12 max pro. Had 11 model no issues. I’ve tried all these suggestions. Not working. All chargers never had issue prior. Phone won’t even charge in my brand new car that has a wireless pad. Problem is my phone is my work. I sell real estate. If this has been an issue looks like 8 months ago, many users, why has it not been resolved? Verizon no help either. Tried selling us new chargers.

Recently, I bought the Apple brand Schosches wireless charging station directly from Apple and the Schosches brand itself directly from the company through Amazon. None of these two chargers are charging my iPhone 11 Pro which I also purchased this year. . Is there a fault in these two devices. Who is to blame, Apple or the Scosches company. I am frustrated having spent almost $300 on these wireless. Last night for example, I tried charging my phone all night only to find out this morning that my phone has not charged at all. Please help.

we have 2 iPhone 12

srnt one back to Apple toe similar issue like you. Tried several charger and the one they worked the best so far had been ANKER charger

the brand new car (2021 volvo) is charger Ford not work either. The only way I found yo charge the phone every time is the plug in lighting port.

the ANKER works 90 % of the time without problem the other 10% I have yo move phone around on the charger till it finally connects d sac no charges

the problem appears to be with the iPhone

maybe the size and placement of the charger inside the phone and the magnets inside do not lock the charger to the phone in the proper place to charge correctly.

if Apple is going with wireless charging I hope the don’t get rid of the cable charging before they fix the problem.

otherwise after 12 years as an Apple iPhone user I will be leaving apple for another brand
