no "Arrangement" tab in my display options

I have seen this posted before, with no real answer to it. I just bought a new macbook pro, and can't seem to be able to be able to turn on the "extended" screen mode. I've tried looking on the display options screen, but there is no "arrangements" option to even select a different screen mode.

I have already unchecked the "show mirror options" box, and also attempted to click on the "detect displays" botton, to no avail. Please help!

If your Mac is fully recognizing you have a secondary display you will get the Arrangement tab. If you don't have a secondary display or you have one...but it's not being properly recognized you will not get the arrangement tab.

Assuming you have a 2nd display that's not being properly detected you can unplug the display, power off, and do an SMC reset. Then power on and see if plugging in the display with the Mac on (after the SMC reset) detects it fully and properly (giving you the arrangement tab).

If this doesn't work, shut down and do an SMC but with the external monitor plugged in and see if afterwards it's working properly.
