what happens to iphone covid tracking when I get a new iphone?

Upgraded from Covid tracking iPhone XS to iPhone 12 via iCloud backup and restore. Has any of the previous weeks covid tracking data moved to my new iPhone?

Should I carry the old iPhone (without sim) for a few weeks. If so how long would be advisable?
