iPhone 12 not getting group texts

My wife's phone had this issue with an iPhone 11 FWIW. We spent hours on the phone with upper level support engineers and finally had to get ATT to retrovision the phone to get it fixed. Apple support had to call ATT to get that setup. Good luck everyone!

Unfortunately, turning off WiFi calling does not fix the problem on my iPhone 12 with Verizon. Group messaging still does not work if a single recipient has an Android device. I can message the Android user one-on-one. But adding that user to a group chat blocks the message from going out, even to the other iPhone users in the group.

I am also having this issue. In fact.. when I google this TONS of people are having this issue that upgraded to an iPhone 12. I upgraded to an iphone 12 pro just the other day and instantly quit receiving texts from many android users. I have verizon myself, but a quick 10 sec google search shows the carrier doesn't matter. T-mobile, att and verizon all have users on iPhone 12 that are having this issue and most state the issue started the moment they upgraded.

Any advice on this would be great. I'm missing extremely important texts from work and personal.

I'm having this same issue too. I've worked with Apple Support 3 times now. 2x with a Senior specialist. My issue is being taken up to the engineers. I'm also working Verizon, but again, it isn't one carrier. This has caused me to miss some important group texts that were work related. So I hope this gets resolved soon.

Same here, have worked with Apple Support 4x over the past 2 weeks, 3x with a Senior Specialist. We collected diagnostics for the engineers but still no solution. I'm also talking with my carrier (AT&T) but no fix yet. Super annoying as I'm missing many important texts. Following this thread in case there's a fix soon.

Not necessarily if the iPhone 12 broke the Group Messaging. I have worked with two Apple Specialists for over 9 hours and for 12 days, since I got the phone. And T-Mobile Advanced Tech Support. No one can fix it. Apple first blamed the carriers, but as Group Texting works fine on iOS 14.2 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max on 14.2, they also say it’s something with the 5G provisioning specifically on the 12’s, but no one can seem to fix it. I will be sending back the 12 Pro, I just can’t deal with it until they fix it.

I contacted Apple support via chat and they were adamant that this is an issue with all of the carriers... I am on AT&T, my buddy is on Verizon, and folks on this thread are on T-Mobile. It would be surprised if it was not an Apple issue. I have officially switched away from using messages at this point. Super frustrating... come on Apple, help us out!

It must be the iPhone 12. Mine and my husbands do it when we have group chats. In fact he gets different messages than I do, but neither of us get the full thread. We have used iPhones since the 4 and never had this problem. I can individually text all the ppl in the thread with no issues but only get select messages... it’s extremely frustrating. I am missing out on super important messages with work. It has nothing to do with the carrier. This needs to be addressed and fixed by Apple. Please help us!

I am having same issue with my new iPhone 12 Pro not receiving all texts in a group message. I have tried going to an apple store and they are aware of issue and had no solution. I also went through apple support and again no solution. I have checked all the suggestions in settings etc. and have taken all updates. How do you fix this ?

Downloaded the Beta Profile, then it was an Update. It’s the pre-release software to the next official iOS.

Same issue with iPhone 11. Group chat with 8 iPhone users works, but it fails if we add a single Android user to the group. I have tried all the suggestions.

It’s for sure not a chip/carrier malfunction. I have always had at and t and never had any texting issues with group text. It has been happening for me and my husband since we got the new phone...

I think tech coach may be specific to Verizon. However any carrier should have tech assistance. Contact your carriers tech service and ask them about this possibility.

Hi! This is clearly an issue with iPhone 12. I’m missing super important messages in group texts—both iPhone only group texts and iPhone + android. My carrier is T-mobile. My husband, who upgraded to an iPhone 12 at the same time is also experiencing this. What’s going on?!

I've been having the same issue since I got my iphone 12, seems to be groups that have at least one android phone in it. I missed a text this morning about a relative passing....SMH. Is there a solution?
