How to update my AirPods Pro

My AirPods won’t update from 2D27 to the new firmware update. They need to add an update menu for them.

Hi, Soleace27.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We’re glad you decided to reach out about updating your AirPods. If you are pairing with your updated iPhone XR they should be kept up-to-date. If they’re not, try this:

  1. Reset your AirPods
  2. Listen to music or a podcast on your AirPods for a few minutes.
  3. Put them back in the charging case and close the lid.
  4. Use the Lightning cable that came with your AirPods to connect them to power for a few more minutes.
  5. Reconnect your AirPods to your iPhone again.
  6. Check to see if your AirPods firmware version has changed.

Your iPhone will need to be on iOS 13.2 or later, and the lid to the AirPods case needs to be closed the entire time. Opening it interrupts an update and causes it to start over.

All our best.
