iPhone 12 pro scratched screen

I've only had my iPhone 12 pro for 3 days, haven't left the house & yet I already have significant scratches on the 'super strong' ceramic glass front screen! Anyone else experienced this? #notveryhappy

I had my IPhone X for over two years, and for the majority of that time I didn’t have a case or a screen protector. After a couple of years I definitely had a couple of scratches, but nothing major; it was so impressive! I got my iPhone 12 on release day and it hasn’t had any more than normal wear and tear that my X would go through. No drops, no cohabitation in pockets with keys, nothing like that - but I already have several significant scratches; easily as bad as anything on my 2+ year old X. I’m definitely disappointed; I’ve ordered a screen protector, and I’ll probably be ordering a case as well, but certainly the difference in performance between the X and the 12 seems pretty stark to me.

obviously there is an issue with the new iphone screen, which sooner or later apple will have to admit and also fix, otherwise people will start switching to other brands

If you'll do a search (or refer back to William's post on page 10), you will see complaints for every new iphone about the screen getting scratched. With all those complaints, consumers continued to buy iPhone. Heck, you did. I don't see it ever affected sales.

Apple admitted/fixed nothing then, what makes you think they will now?

when i looked at the demo units at phone shop (EE) when they came out for both iphone 12 and iphone 12 pro i did notice that they both had a lot of scratches on them.

compared to other demo units in the shops and previous demo units from last year it was clearly obvious that these phones scratch easily.

yes put on a screen protector to avoid cosmetic damage however a phone that needs accessories to fix the issue isn’t really a phone worth over £1000.

noticing the demo units the Notch had more scratches on it than the rest of the screen. You would possibly need to purchase a full screen protector rather than the ones that only covers the underneath the notch.

I´m from Germany, i do not speak English well, sorry.

I bought an Iphone-12-Mini and after 11 days i have a long deep scratch in the display. I do not understand what happend with the 12-Mini. In this 11 days i was really carefull with this very good looking Iphone. But now I´m very angry about this expensive thing. On the next day there were much more small scratches, too. I don`t know where they came from.

I bought a Macbook Pro 13" (4x Thunderbolt) in May 2019 an i payed 1.800 Euro. In Sept 2020 (16 month later), the Retina display flackert. Apple, whats wrong with you?? I give you my money and i only want that your stuff safely works!! My trust is broken..

Yes, but Apple was promoting that super screen glass so I tought, Yes Apple made it the perfect iPhone. So disappointed!!!

Did you actually read what Apple said about the new Ceramic Shield glass on iPhone 12? They said quite clearly it provides 4X Better Drop Protection. At no time did Apple suggest you were buying a phone which could not scratch. Why? Because no one can make glass which is harder to break AND harder to scratch. I find it amazing people are willing to spend $1K or more on a phone, but won't spend a few dollars to properly protect their very expensive phone. If scratches are an issue for you (they certainly are an issue for me), WHY wouldn't you invest in an affordable way to ensure your screen doesn't scratch?

Apple won't replace your screen or anyone's screen to scratches as that's cosmetic. Put a screen protector on your phone now to avoid future scratches.

Not to appear sexist here, but most of the complaining posts are from women. Maybe women with diamond rings. How often have you slipped your hand in your pocket for your phone and brushed against the screen cause you didn’t know the pocket orientation? A few times a day for me. Diamonds will slice a screen like snot on a six year old. Jus’ sayin’

Did you put it in your pocket with your diamond tiara. That is strange. I have never scratch a front except with a diamond... really. That Gorilla Glass is pretty stout stuff. Take it to the Apple Store and see if they can replace the display. My only, humble thoughts. Sorry I couldn’t be more help

Apple will NOT replace the screen for scratches. That's cosmetic damage and simply not covered under iPhone warranty. People have tried. The ONLY solution for anyone is to put a screen protector on their phone to avoid getting additional scratches.
