iPhone 12 pro scratched screen

I've only had my iPhone 12 pro for 3 days, haven't left the house & yet I already have significant scratches on the 'super strong' ceramic glass front screen! Anyone else experienced this? #notveryhappy

I had my IPhone X for over two years, and for the majority of that time I didn’t have a case or a screen protector. After a couple of years I definitely had a couple of scratches, but nothing major; it was so impressive! I got my iPhone 12 on release day and it hasn’t had any more than normal wear and tear that my X would go through. No drops, no cohabitation in pockets with keys, nothing like that - but I already have several significant scratches; easily as bad as anything on my 2+ year old X. I’m definitely disappointed; I’ve ordered a screen protector, and I’ll probably be ordering a case as well, but certainly the difference in performance between the X and the 12 seems pretty stark to me.

Yes, I was sure if Apple made test for droping iPhone to the floor and the screen didnt broke or had any consequence of the fall, also it must not have scratches with very careful uses.

Its not a problem to invest on protection sreen, but now I ask my self. If I spend 1.400€ for phone, I dont like to have protectin screen on, becouse they are uglly and not aesthetically. And if I need protection screen, why would Apple invest for so good ceramic glass that is 4x more better. This is so not logically. Do you agree?

I think Apple should do something with that otherwise loyal costumer will slovely go to another brand.

Same here.

I just noticed two scratches that almost look like chips that fell right out of the glass.

I have never dropped it, placed it face down, or placed it with any other hard or sharp objects.

I am very confused! I thought this was supposed to be the most durable glass yet.

My iPhone 6 had less scratches after 5 years. What's going on apple?

I had my iPhone 12 for a couple hours and didn’t even touch the screen or case without putting the proper protection! on the black Bezel where the front camera is, I had two scratches on it that are pretty significant and well, it wasn’t even in my pocket, it was sitting on a desk getting ready to update! so disappointed. shouldn’t it be covered under warranty?

Any luck in returning the phone. I bought the phone 2 weeks back and unfortunately I notice a small scratch on the screen. I m still under return window. But I didn’t buy Apple care, Will they accept the return??

It’s hard to say.

Officially, they will not accept a return with obvious cosmetic damage, but the person you deal with may be willing to make an exception.

It certainly doesn’t hurt to try.

Yes, my 12 has inexplicable scratches too. It’s definitely not as scratch proof my IPhone X which, like this new phone, I kept it in a case. After two years my iPhone X had some minor wear and tear, but no scratches. I’m sure in this case, it’s the product that’s faulty, not a user error. It will become evident in due course, like the past Apple issues. It’s not in the company’s interests to acknowledge a fault so soon after its release. Wait until after the holidays or the new year.

Part of the phones appeal is the aesthetics. Ugly cases and screen protectors take away from that. Saying “put a case on it” doesn’t address that the screen is less scratch resistant than previous models. At the premium price point this is disappointing. If an expensive winter coat isn’t warm enough I wouldn’t expect to have to wear another coat on top of it.

I have had this same issue after 3 days of light gentle use. Apple Support says it is not covered by workmanship warranty and that I should pay for a screen replacement. With Apple care it is $249 plus $39 plus taxes, without Apple Care it is $439.

There needs to be a warning about how easily the screen scratches. This is my 4th iphone since the 4s and I've never had a scratch before in years of use...3 days and it is scratched. Extremely disappointed. This could be my last Iphone purchase.

Same here!! I'm so upset that I just found a deep scratch and 3 fine scratches on my 12 pro max😩🤬!!!! I'm really kicking myself for not getting a screen protector. I usually put one on as soon as I get it. My husband said that the screens are sooooo much better and I don't need it. We were in best buy at the time and their screen protectors were $49! I should have just paid it, regretting it now! But like wtf!! Not right!!
