iPhone 12 pro scratched screen

I've only had my iPhone 12 pro for 3 days, haven't left the house & yet I already have significant scratches on the 'super strong' ceramic glass front screen! Anyone else experienced this? #notveryhappy

I had my IPhone X for over two years, and for the majority of that time I didn’t have a case or a screen protector. After a couple of years I definitely had a couple of scratches, but nothing major; it was so impressive! I got my iPhone 12 on release day and it hasn’t had any more than normal wear and tear that my X would go through. No drops, no cohabitation in pockets with keys, nothing like that - but I already have several significant scratches; easily as bad as anything on my 2+ year old X. I’m definitely disappointed; I’ve ordered a screen protector, and I’ll probably be ordering a case as well, but certainly the difference in performance between the X and the 12 seems pretty stark to me.

Exactly the same. I’ve had iPhones since 2010, never bothered with a screen protector EVER ( just an edge buffering case for drop protection) and at worst have only ended up with v minor scuffs after a few years use. Within 7 days of receiving my new phone it has 2 very deep gouges in it, so bad I thought the screen had cracked, but I have not dropped it, nor has it been subjected to any trauma. I am at a complete loss as to what has caused these scratches ( or maybe they are cracks? My fingernail clicks if I gently pass it over the defect). Very disappointed, it has really taken the shine off my new purchase - literally.

What at risk of dust going on it! What risk exactly! I’ve had all the iPhones and I posted to let people know this is the softest screen I’ve ever used in my lifetime! My scratches aren’t bad but it’s the principle! It was taken out of the box yes but I hadn’t even put my chip in it before it had scratches so potentially could have gotten a scratch as I was putting the case on! This is not acceptable really. The more people who report the more they will have to look into it. Apple have had recalls before

I have the same issue with my iPhone 12 pro max. I’ve had it about a week and it’s already got loads of fine scratches on the screen despite very careful use. My iPhone 7 that it’s replaced never had a screen protector and only had age related fine swirls on the screen after several years daily use. No way on earth the screen on my new one would be in such condition after that amount of time, it seems to scratch incredibly easily. Needless to say I’ve now purchased a screen protector. It’s extremely disappointing that with the technology that’s available today Apple don’t seem to be able to make a phone with a screen that’s scratch resistant, especially on such an expensive “Flagship” phone!

That must be the problem, I’ve always had perfectly clean hands whenever I’ve used previous Apple phones but getting my new one coincided with starting work in the mine....

You’re trying to be funny here, but literally if your fingers had any type of dirt on them, that are statistically likely included quartz, which is hard enough to scratch a premium smartphone (Apple, Google, Samsung, etc.) screen.
