Usb-c Headphone is not working in iPad Pro 2018 after iPadOS 14 update

Same with my iPad Pro 2020 4 Gen. I seem to be able to control volume (sort of) with the analog buttons on the earphones but the sound is through the iPad speakers. I tried turning it off and on again.

I took the I pad for making music and it’s really annoying when something as basic as plugging in your earphones is buggy

Same issue. Trying to use usb-c AKG earphone (samsung Note 10 plus) but no success for iPad Air 4 gen. It is frustrating, considering it is a very expensive device. This is actually an antitrust problem of self preferencing or tying. Don`t be afraid of competition, Apple. You have great products, but interoperability must be a premisse and a value. If you continue in the path of not solving these kind of simple problems, consumers will become more and more inclined to migrate. I'm not going to buy another headphone, I already have two and they are great devices. Please, fix this issue.

This is a repulsive ploy from Apple to get us to use airpods, which I own, but the microphone is absolutely rubbish. I also own AKG USB C headphones, which is what I would want to use. I just ordered an iPad Air 4th gen, but might refuse it at the door because of this. The way Apple are attempting to control their users is absolutely disgusting. I was also going to buy an iPhone 12 but after reading this entire thread, I don't think I should be giving any more of my money to this company.

Having to unplug and plug-in multiple time (could take tens of times) isn’t a solution. Apple should fix this issue. It’s been around for months now. I don’t understand why does the question shows as solved.

Unfortunately this dont work for me, samsung logo facing up or down, tried reboot. I have the type c headphone no jack or adapter.

Im using the sound from firefox / safari / youtube app....no change.

So, I am using Ipad for the first time, it is amazing powerful and cool, but it is very annoying that no one in apple doesn’t want to fix this big problem. Whyyyy? Every time after updating OS I want to see headphones icon after first plug, i dont want to replug every time i want to use headphones.

Guys, someone tried to use hub to fix this problem?

I have the same problem, iPad Air 4 just bought and updated + Samsung note 10+ AKG headphones, first apple product in almost 10 years, this are the only pair of headphones compatible I have… feels bad…

I am having the same issue on my new m1 iPad Pro. Clicking static with the apple headphone adapter and my wired headphones. And no audio from the iPad. What a piece of junk. Why are there so many posts about this issue and no answers???

My brand new m1 iPad Pro and apple USB c adapter dongle do the same thing. Clicking static. Why are there no answers about this issue? I am not happy. If there’s no answers soon then I’m returning this thing.

Does anyone know if this has been resolved with the introduction of Dolby Atmos? I hope not to wait until iPadOS15 for this to be resolved. Those of use who use the iPad connector for music professionally can’t afford to have static or hiccups. I purchased the older iPad model and they’re no issues, I also purchased the M1 iPad and it still occurs. I’ve used a variety of dongles. Apple, please hear us!

Apologies, searched for an answer when mine wouldn't work at all and then realised the headphone controls worked so posted for anyone in my situation. Reading your first comment when you said it was no longer working I assumed it was something similar. I can remove if it's unhelpful.

This is very frustrating. Reading this thread periodically, nothing has changed. Apple just ignores problem. Very sad.

In thread there are different headphone types, versions of iPad. This doesn’t look like random issue with particular model.

At least write that “We don’t care and issue will not be fixed”.

Why is this marked solved, when it isn't actually solved? My iPad has the latest iPadOS installed and the problem still exist. I use the USB-C to 3.5mm dongle (Apple brand) and still the sounds comes out of the iPad speakers.

I have the same issue with my 2018 iPad Pro and have tried the slow insert of the headphone jack without success. So frustrating that this seems to be a common problem and Apple hasn't addressed it. My issue started about 6 weeks ago after I upgraded to iOS 14.7.

Hmm..I am having the same problem. Do you know if they work using the usb-c/3.5mm dongle?
