iPhone lags when unlocking

Have you tried restarting the phone—>Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Also check available storage: Settings/General/iPhone Storage. You should have an absolute minimum of 1 GB free.

The problem appears when the phone is locked and you press on the home button to unlock it, but, if you wake the screen first with the power button or by raising the phone then you unlock it with the fingerprint the problem is not there and the phone works just fine. I just find it out on my 7 as well, and it works every time now.

If it’s a software problem for sure why aren’t there millions of reports of it here and in the tech press? There are over 100 million phones that have been updated to iOS 14; something as obvious a problem as yours would surely affect millions of users.

Yes, it’s probably a software problem, but it is a software problem on your phone, not in a version used by hundreds of millions of users.

The problem as others said and from my experience is on the iPhone 7 or older, some kind of software doesn’t work good with the Touch ID when the phone is locked and the screen is off, if I wake the screen first then I unlock it everything works fine. At first I thought that the phone gets slower because it’s old, and it’s true in some ways, but then I searched for a solution and I saw that others have this problem too.

Is it happening when you unlock by pressing home button?

if you are using raise to wake, Try using fingerprint after the screen is lit up instead of keeping the finger on finger print.

Looks like a software delay. It happens on my iPhone too

Same thing has happened to me. Here is the solution. Disable Siri. Screen doesn’t freeze or lag anymore.

What about available storage?

Doesn’t help. In the situation described by my it is lagging even with Siri off.

Have you restarted the phone? Do you have at least 2GB of storage free?

Yes and yes. It’s a software problem for sure, it didn’t happened before iOS 14 or so.

That’s what I wanted to say, in this situation it never laggs.
