Does the Thunderbolt Port on the Thunderbolt Display Support Input?

I have a 2011 Thunderbolt Display and a MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 1 port. Would the display work properly if I connect my Mac to the thunderbolt port on the back of the display using a separate thunderbolt cable? (Not the cable built-in to the display) Much appreciated!

Yes, the rear Thunderbolt port has the same capabilities as the Thunderbolt plug on the display's cable. That means you can use a long Thunderbolt cable if the display is far from the computer. You can then use the display's cable to daisy-chain other Thunderbolt devices.
