2.4 GHzz wifi

Problem recently developed with my 2.4 GHz wifi on one of my iPhone X. The phone sees the wifi & connects to it but the wifi doesn't connect to the internet. The 5.0 GHz works fine. On my other iPhone X both 2.4 & 5.0 work fine. Seems like it occurred after iOS 14 update & iOS 14.1 didn't fix it. Haven't tried reset network settings as don't want to re-connect all my Bluetooth devices if I don't have to not even knowing if that would work.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having issues with your Wi-Fi connection on your iPhone X running iOS 14.1. It sounds like you see that you're connected under Settings > Wi-Fi, but you're not able to use the internet, correct?


Do you use any VPN or security software on your iPhone? If you do, try temporarily disabling it and testing.


If you don't have any VPN software, resetting your network settings is a good next step. This step does not affect Bluetooth pairings. This information is from the resource If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network:


"Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before."


If that doesn't help, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the "i" next to your network. If you see an IP address that starts with 169.254, that's what is called a self-assigned IP address. If you see that, power cycle your modem/router and check again. If you see the same self-assigned IP address, we recommend getting in touch with your internet service provider. Please note, don't post your specific IP address in a reply here.


On the other hand, if you don't see anything of concern there, check Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure it is accurate.

Thanks for following up. After reviewing several articles that suggest Reset Network Settings, we're not able to locate the information you've provided. The following articles contain the information below and none of them mention Bluetooth settings being affected.


Return iPhone settings to their defaults

"Reset Network Settings: All network settings are removed. In addition, the device name assigned in > General > About is reset to “iPhone,” and manually trusted certificates (such as for websites) are changed to untrusted.

When you reset network settings, previously used networks and VPN settings that weren’t installed by a configuration profile or mobile device management (MDM) are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and Ask to Join Networks settings remain turned on.


To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone in this guide.


To remove network settings installed by MDM, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the management, then tap Remove Management. This also removes other settings and certificates provided by MDM. See “Mobile device management (MDM)” in the iOS Deployment Reference."


If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad

"Reset your Network Settings.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before."


If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

"Still can’t connect?

Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before."


As previously mentioned, you do have the option of connecting with Apple Support for assistance at Get Support.

Well, that didn't last. After resetting my router got a IP address on my 2.4 GHZ but it didn't last, stayed for about a minute & now back to square 1. Another fact that I failed to mention 2.4 also works on my iPad's so just doesn't work on this one iPhone. I will check with Apple & see what they say about reset network settings & if that also reset's Bluetooth connections.
