Quicktime trim function greyed out.

I am unable to trim my quicktime player videos. It was recorded through quicktime and saved as a quicktime file, yet I cant trim or "Save As" at all. All the editing functions are greyed out. Why is this? Especially since the file format is compatible with Quicktime? I have been doing this for a while and never had an issue til now.

I am on iMac Mojave 10.14.6, and my Quicktime player is version 10.5 (935.5).

iMac 27″, macOS 10.14

Hi Cjfiesta,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! Based on your post, you've had issues trimming or editing a specific file in QuickTime Player. We'll do our best to assist with this.

First, we'd test other files in QuickTime Player. Does the same issue happen? If so, check for an update to Mojave, to see if there is a missing update for QuickTime Player or a fix to the issue in that update: Keep your Mac up to date Make sure you've backed up any important data prior to updating your Mac: How to back up your Mac

If this only happens with a specific file, then you should be able to use these functions in QuickTime Player with other files.

Should it persist, then we'd recommend to Contact Apple Support

Wishing you a lovely weekend, take care!
