If you have a cracked camera like I did the value of your trade in will go from $450 to $0. Apple removed my prior post about this and deemed in not valuable for this community. All of the other parts are in working condition. Does anyone know where I can get the glass on my camera repaired?
The value is determined by Apple’s partner, an independent buyer of used devices (BrightStar Inc, a privately held company). They decide what has value to them, and for the most part they couldn’t care less about a device for parts. They want sellable used devices that they then re-sell. So any damage renders the device of no value to them. Gazelle and other used device buyers are the same - they need fully functional devices for re-sale on the used market. They also sell them to carriers for use as loaners, or even service replacements. So the device has to be fully functional for them to offer anything for it.

A physically damaged phone has no trade in value.
A phone that has been tampered with by an unauthorized party, as you're suggesting, has no trade in value.
Sell the phone on ebay or something and get what you can for it.
I find it hard to believe that an iPhone 11 PRO with 1 damaged camera lens has no value. The internal parts can be repurposed in manufacturing. The lens damage is a whole different issue I have but I've posted that on another thread.
No one whining here they should state that a 3rd party will look at this and absolutely no value for any damaged phones. They would save a ton of time. Just trying to save someone else the head ache here.
It’s in the fine print -> Apple Trade In - Apple. The initial online quote is explicitly referred to as an estimated value.
Contact Apple support for your options
The phone is unfortunately not under Apple Care and they do not have a repair option, I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a 3rd party that can repair the lense
What you believe or find hard to believe is not relevant.
We are not Apple. Whining about it here won't change anything.
They should give us this detail on the trade in program - maybe I missed these details. Bigger issue is with the broken and unrepairable lens, but again that is an issue for another thread
