iPhone 12 OLED Screen Issue

Hello. I bought two iPhone 12 and both has the same issue. In dark surrounding on any brightness lower than 90-100% screen has this ugly glowing! Black pixels are not turning off in dynamic scenes. In static scene black pixels turning off after few seconds.

My video shows it in video and in clock app.

And this is comparison by another one person who have this problem but with iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XS screen.

That’s not normal at all. I post it to support and they said I should wait more. That’s just great...

Lots of people in Korea have this problem too, I just hope that it can be solved by software update.

When I boot up my iphone 12pro, and when I watch dark video especially including black color, the OLED doesn't show me the complete black color. I really hope that it is just a software bug and can be fixed by software update.

I have the same problem, my iPhone 12 has a G9P display(detected by i4.cn software)the phone is still under warranty.

I made and sent a video to Apple tech support and after a week their response was that it is a feature of the OLED display and not covered by warranty. The display has a problem that in dark mode the screen has a green tint and pink tints at the top row of the keyboard and when switching dark windows it makes a "pink ghost". The phone was bought in the Czech Republic. Link to video: Installing iOS 14.7 did not fix the error.

It's not going to be fixed since it hardware issue and not going to be noticeable to most.

I finally was able to go into BestBuy and Apple store in person and confirmed all the phones they have on display have green tint to some degree depending on brightness. It's just not noticeable on display models unless you turn down brightness since they automatically have them all set to max brightness to look good in bright store!

The Samsung S21 phones I saw also had tint issue but they tend to have the pink tint instead of the green tint the iPhones had!

Well, I have a close problem of this, my oled pixels don’t turn off when it should be, like, I am watching a movie, the borders is dark like oled but when I touch the screen it turn on, and the hole black scene turn on too, and if im watching a YouTube thing and there is a black scene it shows like oled but if the hole scene is black, otherwise it turn on the black of the movie, and if I put the brightness on 67 or higher it shows like oled, but there is a catch, if I am on clock, settings , or another app that have the black part, it have a delay to the pixel be back as it should, like: open shortcuts, then wait 10 seconds, swipe up to go back to home, but you are on a gray background, or you are on App Library, you will see the shortcuts background, if it is closed, But the pixels

are “opening “ again because of the delay.

search on YouTube about iPhone 12 burn in, this is what is happening on my iPhone when it is on oled mode, but this is happening since I activated the iPhone, I searched a repair here on Brazil on a certificated store, and they sad that it is NORMAL, NORMAL, I’m upset with it ;-;, if you can help me I would be proud.

This is what I’ve experienced so far regarding this issue on my iPhone 12 Pro:

It was December 2020 when I first noticed that my screen flickers a greenish dim glow. This is frustrating as the whole screen would flicker when using dark mode, where the backgrounds are black. It is also very distracting when watching videos with black bars on the side, which would flicker a dim green glow. I immediately went on the internet to look up this issue, and many articles popped up stating that Apple is apparently aware of this issue and is working on fixing it with a software update. I also learned that the previous iPhone 11 models experienced a similar green tint issue, which was fixed within a few months.

A few days later, I decided to contact my local Apple Authorised Service Provider (since there are no official Apple Stores in my country). I sent them photos and screen recordings of the issue, and they asked me to come in person to get my device checked out. I had to leave my device there for about a week, only to find out after that they weren’t able to reproduce the issue themselves. So I got my device back, still with the issue, hoping that an iOS update would fix it.

Surely enough, in April 2020, iOS 14.5 came with the following in the patch notes:

‘iOS 14.5 includes an optimization to reduce the appearance of a dim glow that might appear at reduced brightness levels with black backgrounds on iPhone 12 models’

However, like the note says, this update only reduced the appearance of the green glow, meaning that the issue still persists, and is still very noticeable to the eye.

Last month, I decided to go to my local Apple Authorised Service Provider once again, this time with more evidence and a more vivid explanation of the issue. They agreed to replace my display, which by the way, took almost two weeks since they had to order parts from another country. So after two weeks, I got my device back and the issue was finally fixed, or so I thought. This moment of joy only lasted a few weeks because slowly but surely, the green tint flickering issue came back. I contacted the Service Provider again, and explained about how the issue reappeared on my device. So once again, I brought it in for service, and they told me that they were going to perform a ‘Rear System Replacement’ which essentially means entirely new components inside and out, except for the display and camera. They stated that the display wasn’t the issue as the issue still persists even with a brand new display.

So then I got my device back, and the first thing I checked when I got home was the display. Surely enough, the green tint flickering issue was still there. I immediately called them up to let them know about it, and their response was that there is nothing else they can do, and that my only option would be to send a ‘complaint letter’ directly to Apple, demanding a device replacement. How does one even do that?

I am clearly very frustrated about this issue that I have been experiencing for almost a full year already, still with no fix. This is a very disappointing experience especially after paying $1000 for it. What else can I do? Am I stuck with this issue until I upgrade to a new device?
