Apple Broadcom Built-In Bluetooth in Device Manager not showing

I’m unable to get any bluetooth devices to connect to my macbook pro 13 (2017) running windows 10.  The bluetooth product & Vendor ID: VID: 0x05AC ---- PID: 0x007E

Here are the steps I’ve taken.

  • Downloaded the latest bootcamp drivers on Mac O/S side and ran a ‘repair install’ on windows using them.  Rebooted.  No change.
  • Windows device manager, under Bluetooth,  “Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth” does not show (even temporarily).
  • Bluetooth Radio > Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power > unchecked

  • Windows device manager, under Network Adapters,  “Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter”.  > advanced > Bluetooth Collaboration is not an option
  • Driver 7.77.119.0 ( have tried rolling back, this did not help.)
  • Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power > unchecked

This thread is very similar https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251394916 however the user appears to at least initially be able to connect the BT device, suggesting it was related to the power save feature.  I am not even getting that far.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Yes, as I mentioned in the third bullet point (unless you mean something else)

These two bullets are confusing...

  • Windows device manager, under Bluetooth,  “Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth” does not show (even temporarily).  This implies you do not have a BT radio...
  • Bluetooth Radio > Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power > unchecked ...but this one says you have one.

0x05AC is the Apple Vendor ID. It is possible that Windows has installed a generic driver. Also, the 7.77.x.x drivers do not have BT collaboration, but the 7.35.x.x drivers do.

Also, see Bluetooth Driver for MBP 14,3 on bootcamp - Apple Community .

Unfortunately not, oh well it's not the end of the world, I'll just have to use a wired mouse! :)

EDIT

I had a look in BootCamp.xml and I see this:

<Name>Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter Driver

<InfName>bcmwl6.inf</InfName>

<Class>Net</Class>

<ClassGUID> {4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}</ClassGUID>

<CatalogFile>BCM43XX64.CAT</CatalogFile>

<Provider>Broadcom</Provider>

<DriverVer>11/13/2012, 5.106.199.1</DriverVer>

<ServiceBinary>bcmwl5.sys</ServiceBinary>

<HardwareID></HardwareID>

<isX64>Both</isX64>

should I try driver 5.106.199.1 ? (I don't see this is available in the list of drivers, so I'm not sure I even can).

I'm trying to connect an orginal Bose Mini Bluetooth speaker and a cheap bluetooth mouse (both work on mac OS)

7.77.119.0 - Do not see either device.

7.35.118.83 - Do not see either device.

7.35.118.73 - See mouse but just hangs at connecting

7.35.118.68  - See mouse and bluetooth speaker but just hangs at connecting

I couldn't find where to download .40

.73 works very well. If you install it and enable Collaboration and disable Power Management, do you still see the same issue?

Also, you have 13-in MBP, not a Mini/iMac/MacPro. Unless you constantly use the MBP in clamshell mode, it makes me wonder if you need a BT mouse. I have used the .73 driver with an Apple MM2, and it works very well, in a very noisy 2.4GHz RF environment.
