From your Home Screen, swipe left until you get to the App Library.
Swipe downward and you'll get an alphabetical list of your apps.
Locate the app in the list or type the app name into the search field
Once you've located the app, tap/hold until it raises/selects, then drag it and it'll pop out to your Home Screen

the 'new feature' certainly has it's utility for me. I have over 300 apps on my phone and don't regularly use them all. Removing from Home Screen is a great way for me to clean up my Home Screen

Hey, I was googling to find the answer and found this thread but then I figured it out so I thought I’d update you all. If you swipe your screen all the way to the right PASSED your last screen of apps, it’ll say APP LIBRARY at the top and then have groupings of apps(suggestions, recently added, etc). Find your app that you removed there and then hold your finger on it and the option to add to Home Screen should appear.
You need to find the App Library. You can do this by searching for it in the search bar or by swiping from right to left. The App Library should appear after your last page of apps. Once you have located the App Library, find the app you want to restore. Press and hold the app icon until a menu pops up with the option to send to the Home Screen.
Remove from Home Screen
When attempting to delete an app, you will be prompted with Delete App or Remove from Home Screen. The second option must be selected to keep the app's data and contents, but visually remove the icon. This is often preferred for natively installed apps (Safari, Mail, etc) that may have a non-native counterpart (Edge, Gmail, etc.) app or rarely have a need (e.g., Compass).
To remove (not delete) an app:
Restore to Home Screen
The easiest way to restore the app icon to the home screen is to nav
To restore app icon to home screen:
For more information, please refer to Organize the Home Screen and App Library guide provided by Apple Support.
From your Home Screen, swipe left until you get to the App Library.
Swiping Left means you drag your finger from the right side of your screen to the left side.
If you see the app you are looking for in the categories, you can tap and hold on the app icon at this point. When the menu pops up, select Add to Home Screen.
But I find the categories more of a pain than anything.
At the App Library, if you simply swipe downward you'll get an alphabetical list of your apps.
Either scroll to the app or type the app name into the search field.
Once you've located the app, tap/hold, then drag and it'll pop out to your Home Screen

that is because 'removing' an app is not the same thing as deleting it. If you see 'Open' in the App Store, then the app is still on your phone.
From your Home Screen, swipe left until you get to the App Library.
Swipe downward and you'll get an alphabetical list of your apps.
Locate the app in the list or type the app name into the search field

as I've posted in this thread already..

Then slide your home screen all the way to the right where you see the APP LIBRARY frome there at top search type in the name of the APP then once you see the app name under App Library then press and hold the app and drag it to the left side to the home screen.
So this is how I did it. I swiped right to APPS LIBRARY. Then I dragged the app I wanted to restore to my HOME SCREEN out of the LIBRARY onto the HOME SCREEN & then into a separate screen where I keep it grouped with other apps that applies to the same genre.
It's now restored to my iphone se.
To get an app you removed from your home screen back swipe left until you see app library at the top, click it and all of your apps will appear, then find the app you want back hold it and drag it to the home screen! :)
Swipe left on you iPhone from the home page. That means, place your finger on the right side of the screen and swipe to the left u til you get to “App Library” from there you will be able to find your app and move it to your desired spot. Hope this helps!!!
You have to swipe to the LEFT on your home screen until you get to App Library and then you just hold it down and it gives you a suggestion to “add app to Home Screen”! Make sure you swipe your finger to the left because I was confused about it at first
App library-alphabet order- select app(long press) & drag to home screen
Scroll left until you get to the App Library. Press and hold until the app pops up, then select "Add to Home Screen"
Keep scrolling right until you get to APP library and find the missing app and drag it to the page or screen you want it on and drop it there - I had to drop into a box with another and then move that other app to a further page but it did work - It is a stupid feature that allows you to easily accidentally delete apps and make it hard for you to keep your screens the way you are used to them and then makes it super hard for you to retrieve the accidentally deleted app!
