Mouse pointer size on iOS 14.2

Good evening! When I updated to iOS 14.2, my mouse pointer size became bigger, and I thought it was not normal, I tried to reduce the pointer, but it was still so much bigger. When I turned off AssistiveTouch, my pointer was normal again. So, now I can’t use my mouse with AssistiveTouch turned on, and I need that sometimes, I hope Apple will fix it on the next software update. This is the temporary solution that I’m using.

Well, tell me if you guys have this issue too.

André.

What functionality you mean?

You do not need to turn off the addeptive touch, just turn off "perform touch gestures". This is not bug, they have designed it this way that the pointer act as a finger so it is larger now, if you do not want it turn the "perform touch gestures off". It is not related to your track pad gestures they are ok, it just makes your pointer smaller like before.

If I understand your post correctly, restoring as new was the magic bullet (for you) that returned the magic keyboard's functionality to the way it operated pre-14.2. So you are running in 14.2 but no longer have any of the issues reported above, yes?
Correct. The magic keyboard has continued to behave as expected since the restore. It's a bloody nuisance having to start from scratch again, but functionality takes priority over all—for me at least, in this moment.

NOPE. Scratch all of that. DO NOT restore to new. Everything was working fine until just now, and the trackpad is glitching even harder with new unpredictable behaviour such as the cursor jumping wildly around the screen while trying to navigate normally. This is infuriating.

Now I'm restoring my old backup from the 10th because if there is literally no functionality improvement to be had, then there's no reason to slog through the tedium of manually setting up the entire iPad again. What an ordeal. I hope Apple pushes a fix for this fast.

There is no bug or problem, this is the why no body is following here. You can simply turn off the"perform touch gestures" in the addaptive touch setting, then the pointer is like before. It does not turn off the gestures of your track pad, it just makes the pointer smalller. The reason behind that is that they want that larger pointer act like a finger not a mouse, you can see the explanation in the "perform touch gestures" setting.

The bug for me and others in the thread is when Perform Touch Gestures is disabled, the cursor goes berserk. It jumps around the screen erratically when trying to navigate, and scrolling becomes severely glitchy. (Although there is still a scrolling glitch even with touch gestures enabled requiring a click or multiple clicks in an app before it responds to the scroll gesture—and even when it does scroll, it tends to go in fits and starts.)

Call it what you want, functionality went away with the update, or you accept the giant pointer, which obviously most of us don’t like. The suggestion to “Turn off perform touch gestures” disables features that WE like and have been accustomed to.

The suggestion that THEY want the larger pointer to act more like a finger, is fine, But WE don’t want the giant pointer. WE want the smaller one that we had and were accustomed to before the update and now it is gone and the only way we have to get it back is to remove other features that we like. BTW It was already too big on its smallest setting before, now it is ridiculous.
