ORDERED AN IPHONE 12 AND RECEIVED A BOX WITHOUT THE IPHONE!

We ordered an iPhone 12 and received the box with the charger cable, but not the iPhone. We contacted the apple customer service and we've been told that nothing can be done. We contacted Apple Care, that was purchased with the phone, and they couldn't help us either suggesting to write on forums.

After 10 years using only iPhone devices, I've been stupified when after 24 hours we've been delivered the lowest customer service quality by being told that the investigation was closed and that nothing could be done. The apple care plan (purchased for lost, theft etc) is connected already to the codes from the box we received.

The carrier (UPS) was contacted and because they have some kind of contract with Apple, they can't open a claim on the case.

The lack of interest in this case is just Surreal.

Does not help with this one but it may help others.

If I buy a high end item by mail or sealed store pickup I set up a camera at home and film not only the unboxing (so popular on youtube) but the sealed status of the outer packaging, and the cutting open of the seals and packaging. If the packaging is obviously open or damaged I would not accept the package.

There is very little you can do to prove the box was empty and this is one of the most widespread scams and another reason I would never buy or sell iPhones on the online auction sites. You know what happened is true but the crooks spoil it for the rest of us honest buyers.

If this happened to me and I was told that there is nothing they can do, I would dispute the credit card charge. Whoever you purchased the phone from is the company that used UPS (or whatever carrier it was), not you. They should file a claim with UPS. They should have insured it. It is not up to you to deal with UPS. You are not their customer, Apple is.

Again, dispute the charge with the credit card company. They will investigate and in the meantime, take the charge off your bill.

Dispute this with your credit card company. You did not receive that for which you were charged.

UPS insurance is for the shipper who paid for the service (Apple in this case), not the receiver. Apple must ask UPS to investigate. If they won't institute the inquiry, dispute with your credit card.

As an aside, UPS weighs the parcel at certain places along the way. They will be able to tell when the weight changed and narrow down when the theft occurred or if they received an empty box to begin with. That will be a part of their investigation once Apple makes the claim.
