iPhone won’t send pics to Android

Ever since the last iOS update I’ve lost the ability to send pictures to Android users. MMS is enabled, I’ve tried resetting network settings, and with iMessage turned off and on with nothing working. Had anyone else experienced this recently?

Apple engineers gave me a reply back finally and told me they suggest that I back up my iCloud and then I go into my settings - general - reset - erase all content and settings.

it worked, but I’m ****** I had to do that because of all of the unfavorable hoops Apple put me though during this process.

at first the man denied it’s an apple problem, “99% of the time it’s the carrier”.

and then I had to reach back out to them after they said they would call me.. which I didn’t receive, and now I have to redownload all of my apps again and set up my phone like I just spent $1000 bucks on a new phone.

I’ve had the same issue. I even switched carriers today thinking it would solve the issue, but it’s obviously across the carrier board.

today I contacted Apple support and they insisted it’s the carriers issue. I insisted it’s an Apple issue, so they got a supervisor on the phone who told me “99% of the time this is a carrier issue”. I insisted this is Apple’s issue so he checked further and said “huh, it’s actually the device”.

Well I’m going to be getting another call from him this afternoon to continue trying to resolve the issue, and he said if he can’t do it he will be getting the engineers on the phone with me.

Persistence is key when it comes to companies like this who promise a great device (and charge a lot of money) and it doesn’t live up to the promise.

I’ll keep this group discussion updated on what happens.

I had the iphone 8 and was having this problem. About 6 weeks ago, I bought the iphone 12 and had same problems and a few other problems. Suddenly, about two weeks ago, I no longer have the problem and I have no idea why. I have three sons, two with androids and one with an iphone. I am now able to send group and individual photos, texts, gifs etc. When i first bought the iphone 12, it wouldn't connect to my wi-fi at home. My apple laptop was connected with no problems. I called Verizon thinking it was the carrier, they had me push out the SIM card tray for a bit then reboot my phone. My iphone seemed to be fine and then the next day the same problems. So I continued to push out the SIM card tray out of frustration. (I also mailed back old phone with old sim card) Suddenly, everything is fine. I am afraid to even write this in fear of jinxing it. Sorry for the novel but, I am now communicating smoothly with all three of my sons. Good luck to all as I feel your frustration. :-)

So I commented on this post previously: At first I thought MMS was not working because we are connected to wifi most of the time, but after a few month's of messing around with our phones, I have found when my husband or my wifi disconnects our phones will show however many bars of LTE (2-4 typically) but we will not have any data at all. They both connect to 4G fine unless we toggle airplane mode a bunch of times with LTE selected. I did trouble shooting with Apple and they found "nothing wrong" and told me to go back to my carrier (tmobile). I’m so frustrated!!! This has been happening on and off for FOUR MONTHS. Curious if anyone else went on to find out to root cause is related to data not working?

I’m sorry, but this post is just rude.  And for the record, I used to work in a cell-phone store and it’s not uncommon for only a handful of people with certain models of certain iPhones to have issues after a software update!  Apple took back a bunch of iPhone 7 and 7 plus models after a software update a couple years ago.

This used to happen to me sometimes but over the last month or so sending an image to an android or group text with an android in it requires either turning off iMessage, turning on airplane mode for a minute and or hard rebooting my phone. None of those things works 100% of the time.

Is this an iPhone issue or a carrier issue?

I think it is funny that every time I research this question, Apple support asks the same questions and then never really addresses the problem. I think they know what is going on.

While I cannot say what is happening I do know that I can take an image that will not send to an Android device, open it in Photoshop, do an Export>Save For Web (Legacy) and the resulting file always goes through.
