iPhone SE 1st Gen frozen due to full memory

Hi team,

My iPhone SE 1st Gen got its memory full, and when I was trying to delete stuff, it did not. So I tried restarting the phone, and it always 'freezes on the Apple logo and restarts' - going in loop.

I found the below link:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8538344

I tried the iTunes, but it is not able to Update and going for the Restore.

I have this query - before it goes for the restore, does it try to take a backup of the phone first?

I would like to try all means to take a backup before going for the restore

Thanks, Sasi.

iPhone SE, iOS 13

Hello sasi914,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your iPhone not booting properly.

This article has steps to try: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Only the Update option attempts to repair without erasing the device: "When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Update. Your computer will try to reinstall the software without erasing your data."

If you need to restore the device, once completed, you can attempt to restore your previous backup, or at least your iCloud data will repopulate when you log in with the same Apple ID. You can also resync items from your computer. These two articles will help:

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
