Google Drive Embedded Videos not playing on any Apple Device or Safari Browser

Hello!

I run a school website and we use Google Drive to embed our videos onto the WordPress site.

In the above link, there are embedded videos. Loaded in Google Chrome, they play fine.

On mobile devices, they play fine.

Use an iPhone or an iPad or Safari Browser and the videos will not play.

Is there a known fix for this?

Any help massively appreciated!

Try to disable the Cross-site tracking from Safari.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open the Safari section.
  3. Under the `Privacy` heading, make sure the `Prevent Cross-Site Tracking` switch is off.
  4. Go back to the Home screen, open Safari again, and try again.

Before you disable it, make sure you know what is cross-site tracking and the risks it involves.

Do you know why this happens with Safari/Apple Devices for Google Drive videos?

I think this is some privacy stuff implemented by Apple.

You should go and try doing a quick read on this wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-site_tracing about cross-site tracking stuff.

Is there a fix so that parents of our school accessing the videos can play them without them having to go through their own device's settings?

Either do not use a service that uses cross-site tracking or like what you did, run through settings and turn off the prevent cross-site tracking.
