I'm editing a project with 150gb of video clips and I can't even edit for a minute without it beach balling!! I have 500gb available on my hard drive and there are literally only clips in the timeline (around half hr of clips) and no transitions or effects. Even when I just started editing from the beginning it caused problems. And it won't let me make proxies because it says there isn't enough space which doesn't make sense because there is!

13" I assume. Uninstall Chrome completely, reboot, and try again. If the problem is the same post an EtreCheck report using Full Drive Access in the application's preferences. Copy the report and use the Additional text button to add it to the reply.
Please give the complete specifications of your system, the computer specs, the OS and FCP versions, and the specs of the media your editing and the project properties.
Well, you may see if there is an update for that program. Maybe the version you have needs to updated.
You also run a test with a new admin user that does run the software and see how the application performance in a simple test.

I'm editing off an ssd (sandisk) that has 500gb available (1tb hard drive).
There's around 200gb of files being used in the library. The project I'm currently working on is using half of the media but I plan to use from all the media in the final version.
Do you have the Chrome Browser installed on your Mac?

Yes, but when I use final cut I don't have other programs open. Happens to be I got google chrome somewhat recently.
Hey I just did it again because I had some apps running. This is the report with only final cut running. Even with only final cut running it's still freezing up like crazy.
I just looked into it. I have covenant eyes installed which is a reliable computer filter. I have had it for years and final cut never had a problem. What's my next course of action?
Thanks. There is only covenant eyes there which is that reliable computer filter I mentioned, but it has never caused any problems with final cut for past couple years.
What would suggest I do next?
Does the report show that that is what's slowing down my computer?
Configuration Profiles:
This computer may have configuration profiles installed.
This is unusual. Are you aware of any reason why your mac has configuration profiles? These are sometimes used in machines installed in corporate environments, but may also be installed by malware.
Go to System Preferences and see if there is a Profiles pane (or something like that; it does not show unless there exist configuration profiles, so I haven't got that in my mac).
I suppose this was probably installed by one of your programs, that is tracking your screen activity.
It is possible that this has something to do with the FCP issue, or not.
