Facebook Live/iOS 14 does not recognize Rode I-XLR

I've been having the same issue and someone in another thread suggested using the PRISM Live app to stream through FB and/or YouTube and others. I downloaded the app on my iPhone XS Max, connected to FB through the app and launched a FB live session. I started the session through PRISM Live, then connected the external mic to the iPhone and PRISM immediately recognized the external mic. It worked!! PRISM Live is free and quite frankly - after so many failed attempts going through FaceJerk directly - I'm going to continue to use PRISM. If this works for you too - please share with others. This has been SOOOO frustrating.

I just updated to IOS 14.4 and with the latest version of the Facebook app my external microphone is working again, You still have to plug in the external microphone after you start Facebook Live, but at least it is working again !

I have and iPhone 7 with only lightning connector so you need the lightning to headphone adapter along with the TRS to TRRS adapter cable.

Update: after using multiple combinations of cords and adapters, I ordered a 3.5 mm to Lightning headphone adapter directly from the Apple Store. This fixed the problem. My guess is the IOS update disabled a lot of other adapters. Anyone else have this work for them?

I was having problems as well with my external microphone for Facebook live.

I went into settings, Safari, scroll down to “settings for websites”, click on “microphone” and set to “Allow”.

it seems the updates moved some settings to default...”deny”.

my problem was fixed

ios 14.4 fixes the problem. You do have to wait until after you start fb live to plug in your external microphone to your iphone.

Hi folks. Just wanted to let you know that I used an app today called Prism Live Studio, which allows you to live stream to various social media platforms at once, including Facebook and YouTube. I did a 3 minute test with me Wireless Rode Mic and it worked great. The app streamed to Facebook for me. It’s probably not ideal as you have a 3rd party app doing the streaming for you (maybe more chance of things crashing.) but until Facebook gets its act together I’ll be using this as it allows us to use our external mic’s. Just thought I would share.

As suggested by Deacon_Bob, we used Streamlabs today in our church service and it resolved the sound issue with our Facebook Live. Thank you.

I was able to use Streamlabs today without incident on the audio. Seemed to be dropping video frames but could just be internet connection. Happy to have a solution for this at least for the short term. Note that in the configuration I am using (free out of the box) it throwing on a watermark once in awhile so not an ideal solution on that point.

what about trying facebook from a browser on your phone, instead of the FB app? i haven't tried that yet, but just thought it might work since the mic is recognized by the phone when using the video camera or voice memo app.

Streamlabs app is a good third-party app to use until they get this fixed.

Yes I am having the same problem. I also tried on my ipad to do a facebook live and again had the same problem. I tried my friends Samsung s9 to make sure it wasnt the Comica microphone and receiver and it worked fine with her samsung. This must be an issue with the IOS update from November because since that time I have not been able to get it to work. I can record a regular video with the iphone video app but not facebook live. I hope they fix this ASAP because we use this every week to do a facebook live with my company!

I tried streamlabs yesterday and the input from my sound board worked. The quality wasn't as good, but at least it wasn't picking up sound with the external mics on the phone.

I used streamlabs this morning for my church service and was able to send and receive comments as normal.

IOS 14.4 was just released. Did it fix this issue?
