iPhone 7 photo display
When I open my iPhone 7's photo app I often get a video show or other fancy display which I don't want.
Is there a way co configure the phone to just show a collage of all my photos? Plain and simple?

It sounds like the For You tab is selected when you open the Photos app. Here’s more about it in the section titled “For You” here: Organize and find your photos on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
You can select a different tab if you don’t want to view the For You tab.
