Nikon webcam utility with Facetime

On November 4th 2020, Nikon released their webcam utility. (The beta version has been around for a while but this is the GA release). This means that certain supported cameras can be used as the source for video conferencing applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Facebook Messenger or Skype.

I've tried it with my Nikon Z6 and it works very well.

However, it doesn't work with FaceTime - i.e. there's no way (apparently) to nominate the webcam utility as the [video] input source.

I feel that this is an issue with FaceTime rather than with Nikon's utility but I'd appreciate comments

I've learned a little more...

Nikon's Webcam Utility and similar offerings from other camera manufacturers, presents a virtual camera to the operating system.

So it now becomes a question of which applications support virtual cameras in addition to physical ones.

What's disappointing is that 3rd party applications such as Zoom (on MacOS) do support virtual cameras but Apple's core applications do not.
