iPhone 7 calls only work with Airpods Pro (14.2 issue?)

Hi all,

I am not sure whether it started directly after upgrading the iPhone to 14.2 but obviously around that time. I can make calls and receive calls using the iPhone but I don't hear a thing anymore. Also the caller on the other side does not hear anything. However, it works when using my Airpods.

The speaker button is greyed out, I cannot switch the call from Airpods to iPhone and also cannot use the speaker for calls. Interestingly enough I can still listen to music and the like using the speaker.

I already did a reset of the settings and as this did not help a complete reset of the phone but to no avail. Is this a hardware issue?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Daniel

I think I have exactly the problem mentioned here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8143091

Someone over there states that Apple replaces iPhones experiencing this bug. However this information is two years old and I doubt that it is still valid. Furthermore I am based in Germany. Can someone give a hint on this? Thank you.
