IOS 14.2 Phone Problems

Is anyone else having issues with phone calls specifically after downloading IOS 14.2?

I am having 2 specific problems.

#1-Some incoming calls are not showing any call notification. It’s like they never called unless they leave a voicemail.

#2-Once I am on a call every one drops after a few minutes and will even happen multiple times if the call is long.

My service is Verizon Wireless. Not sure if this is a IOS issue or Verizon issue?

iPhone XS, iOS 14

Chatted with Verizon tech today. They had me shut down my phone and wait 2 minutes while they did a system reset. Didn’t work. Tested a call and it dropped in about 3 minutes. Next had me go to General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. After the phone restarts, had to re-enter WiFi password. It seems to have worked. I have steady 2-3 bars instead of wildly variable 1-4, and tested two calls over 5 minutes with no drops.

I thought the network reset fixed my issue, but I continued to have dropped calls. Not as often or as quickly as before the network reset, but still not good. A few people on this thread recommended to turn off WiFi calling. Once I did that, the drops stopped.

My home network is Xfinity. It’s gig speed and working fine, but it’s not playing well with my Verizon phone.

From weeks of talking about this, I am deducing that this is indeed an Apple IOS 14.2 problem as it relates to either Verizon or more likely Comcast/Xfinity Internet service.

Others are saying that so far Apple has not either acknowledged or figure out what the problem is.

I have continued to leave my WiFi calling off and that seems to have dealt with the call problems while at home.

Perhaps you can discuss with Verizon what if anything they can do to provide you a better signal at home(Assuming this is where your problem is) Maybe Apples next IOS upgrade will relieve this issue in time, although it’s frustrating to see them not acknowledge or realize there is an issue with 14.2/Verizon/Xfinity users!

after trolling the internet most of the day and trying many different things (WiFi calling only mode with airplane mode on, turning off VoLTE, trying different networks, turning off airplay and airdrop, resetting networks, resetting routers many times, I’m still back to saying - it used to work before iOS14, and it still works on my apple router but not on a 3rd party router (thanks Apple for discontinuing your network products - I learned the hard way no one else built out the full implementation of the 802.11 specs and you rely on parts no one else implemented, so now we’re left with less than what we used to have in other areas, etc.). In the end I turned off WiFi calling and turned volte back on. We’ll see if the carrier has upped coverage since I turned on WiFi calling 5 years ago... Meanwhile Apple - please fix this. Better start testing with all of your customers’ provider’s routers, and not just the rack of airport extremes you probably still have in the lab...

Yes, I have the same issue and I have AT&T. This is not a provider issue. This is a software issue. This started happening immediately after I updated to version 14.2. I have tried everything online that shows how to troubleshoot the issue. I also did a phone reset as well. I can make a call but the other party can’t hear me and I can’t hear them. I have to use a headset or be in my vehicle for it to work.

Well, I spoke with tech support and it is definitely an issue with Apple IOS 14.2. I was on the phone for almost 2 hours and have tried all the troubleshooting on their site. I find this very odd how this happens before Christmas. The same thing happened to my Fiance last year after an update. She ended up having to purchase a new phone.

I will update once they provide me with a solution.
