Big Sur and brother label printer

Thanks for all the feedback on this matter. I hope they can fix it soon. My business, needs to print shipping labels with this system and Handwriting labels is getting to be a pain.. Printer seems to be OK, it looks like it is the software that is the problem..

I have similar... I installed Big Sur, and then my printer could only find blank labels when I selected one from the P-Touch editor 5 file (previously saved).

When I then entered a new address onto another ("new label") I was able to print it but not save it.

Any suggestions would be fine - I called Apple help who ascertained that their system is fine (which it is, except for the above!)and then they suggested that I call Brother, which I did ... I described the problem to them and they said that they would need to get someone to call me back - they called me back after an hour or so and they said that they are working on a solution - I hope they find one as, at present, I cannot get to my address database at all.

Hi. I googled the link to the app on the Apple web which then linked to the store via a view in the Mac App Store tab which then showed an update available.

Same here. Although the new P-Touch Editor update from the App Store seemed promising, the QL-500 doesn't seem to be supported by this new version. I really hope Brother comes up with a solution for these older but perfectly capable printers soon.

QL-570, about 7 years old. New MacBook Air, BigSur. Downloaded P-touch Editor from Apple Store. But this is not a print driver. However when I try to print I get this message: "Cannot communicate with the printer. Check the connection." Thoughts?

I faced the *same problems* with the Dymo Labelwriter NOT working with Big Sur v11.0.1 There's *GOOD* News... Apple has released Big Sur v11.1 I deleted the Dymo from apple/system preferences/printers. Then I went to ~Library/printers/DYMO and deleted the whole folder. I rebooted and added the Dymo driver DLS8Setup.8.7.5.dmg. Reboot. Plugged in my Dymo Labelwriter 450 and it ran perfectly! I hope this helps someone :)

Thank you, but their user guide won't help us here. We're talking about the Brothers P-touch app. Dymo is a completely different company.

My bad. You did correctly state the problem was with Brother. I processed as Dymo. Sorry for that. If it's any comfort, Dymo is not much better.

I have the same bug

I am having the exact same issue on both my MacBook and iMac with the exact same printer.

I have just been through exactly the same process as you. Hope this is sorted; my address database is huge. 😠
