Overheating MacBook Pro after Big Sur instal

I re-started the computer a few times, and the problem with overheating and running fan went away. I understand that may not be working for everyone.

I do not agree. You can't make your homework if you don't even know there is a homework.

I have the same issue I tried all the information in all the blogs and still the same.

Please Apple do something I am tired of using my computer.

I’m having the same problem, it’s overheating while downloading the new update, should I shut it down?

What I have observed is that a I/O burns the MacBook :-) Try going to safe mode, do an ls -R / and you will reach 100 degrees Celsius.

Can you give us directions on how to do this. I just bought this mac book and I'm disappointed that it's doing this.

I updated my mac on July, 2021. After that I am having the same problem. While I am doing nothing, even on that time My Mac is getting hot. What should I do for that?

Yes. unfortunately, i have same problem over here. I didn’t experience any overheating before with my MacBook pro 16, now i have to deal with overheating issue. I hope a quick software update will fix it.

While my MBP 13" 2019 has no such issues when doing nothing, it has huge issues with doing anything. The fans were genuinely an obstruction to my skype meeting. Opening 4tabs in chrome makes my macbook dream of becoming a helicopter. Wish I hadn't updated. For me this is just one of the 3 main issues that have come from it.

Yeah I've been having the same problem. I've updated since the new software was released, around a week ago, and my 2015 13.3 in. MacBook Pro has been heating and its fans working endlessly although I wouldn't be doing much work on it!!! I used to do more work on it yet it wouldn't do this...

hey ya'll. Had fans running after Big Sur install. Found a fix. Activity Monitor told me that Goole Chrome Helper was chewing up most of my CPU. Deleted Chrome, restarted my computer. No fans running. Downloaded NEW Chrome (released a few days ago), opened still no fans. Problem has been fixed.

Yes! I'm having the same issue. Ever since upgrading to BIG SUR my fans are almost always blowing very heavily and loudly, even when I'm barely doing anything intense. I have a 2019 16 inch Macbook Pro that I purchased a couple of months ago and one of the main reasons was because I hated how hard and loud the fans would blow when I'd hop on zooms. I bought this new model and the problem did improve. But after updating to BIG SUR a few days ago the issue is back and louder than ever. But that's not even the worse part...

The worst part is I bought this laptop mainly for video editing. And a week ago before the update I was editing a project filmed in 1080p perfectly fine. Everything was as smooth as butter and fairly quiet. After updating I went back into that project yesterday and today to finish it up and no matter how many times I restart my computer and close every other app other than final cut pro, every time I start editing the footage the fans start blowing full at force and I'm experiencing a serious lag as I play the video I've been editing on my timeline. An issue I was not experiencing before the update. It's literally the same footage as last week and the only difference is I updated my OS.

I'm so upset by this, I feel like this update has ruined my smooth workflow, slowed everything down, and made the experience of editing very annoying as everything lags and the fans are super loud. I spent close to $5k to get an almost fully spec'd out laptop a couple months ago and it's now operating slower and worse than the 2015 model I had. Thanks for making that entire purchase I just a complete waste of money. I seriously hope you guys fix this issue ASAP in an update!
